Job Description
TITLE:
Dual Position District Parent Liaison and District Receptionist
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or experience equivalent to High School Diploma or GED. One (1) year working in a culturally diverse setting with parents/families and community members. Demonstrated knowledge and involvement with community services. Ability to speak, read and write Spanish.
REPORTS TO:
Federal Programs Coordinator
JOB GOAL:
Increase and improve parent, family, and community engagement in the education of children. Coordinate parent, student, and teacher programs that assist in building a bridge between the school and parents and/or guardians. Build a positive environment to facilitate communication between home and school.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a liaison between the district federal programs and the parents/families.
- Plan, implement and oversee federal programs activities, trainings, and programs to improve student academic achievement aimed for parents/families.
- Provide publicity for federal programs parent/family activities through district and school communication avenues.
- Serve as the districts McKinney Vento liaison, determining eligibility, coordinating transportation, and distributing supplies/resources to families.
- Manage school uniform donations.
- Support family outreach to improve student attendance.
- Seek out additional opportunities for parent engagement.
- Effectively answers and manages multi-line telephone system for the purpose of screening calls, transferring calls, responding to inquiries and/or taking messages.
- Provide a positive district image for all visitors and personnel who desire information and/or services.
- Greets public, parents, students, vendors, etc. for the purpose of responding to their inquiries and/or escorting/directing them to appropriate personnel.
- Diffuses difficult or emotional situations for the purpose of taking action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Maintains calendar of district events and use of facilities.
- Provide assistance on a daily basis for the Superintendents personnel.
- Receives, sorts, and routes interoffice and regular mail.
- Manages a variety of items (e.g. special delivery and overnight mail/packages, messages, etc.) for the purpose of disseminating materials to appropriate parties.
- Supports assigned administrators and departmental staff for the purpose of providing assistance with clerical and administrative functions.
- Maintains appropriate materials and information within reception area (e.g. notices, marquee, etc.) for the purpose of providing information to employees and visitors.
- Accommodates flexible works hours to meet the needs of the District as determined by the supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Twelve-month employee pay and benefits in accordance with Board policy.
