Job Summary:

The overall duties of the program and research coordinator include leading research efforts to comprehensively evaluate the innovative early childhood clinical program known as First Three, leading efforts to engage the local community and ensure community participation in clinical research and working within Chiricahua to grow the research department and assist providers in evaluating their own clinical programs. The individual will work closely with Chiricahua leadership to further the organizations overall vision of Health for All.

Essential Job Duties:

Research-Related Activities (50%)

  • Coordinating and managing all activities, personnel, and tasks related to research projects, especially in early childhood, but also in other areas of Chiricahua.
  • Develop ideas to integrate current research into clinical environment.
  • Submit new research studies to Institutional Review Board (IRB) for review, if applicable.
  • Create IRB-approved consent forms and obtain consent from research participants.
  • Develop and administer screening tests to research participants to obtain relevant information for research projects.
  • Call and conduct telephone interviews with research participants to obtain relevant information for research projects.
  • Conduct literature review to obtain background information on relevant clinical and early childhood development topics.
  • Attend regional and national conferences with CCHCI research team, when needed.
  • Publish results of research projects, including of the First Three intervention. This includes first-author manuscripts and corresponding author contributions.
  • Work directly with the informatics team at Chiricahua and University partners to assist in organization and analysis of data.
  • Search for grants related to implementation science and early childhood development, evaluating grants based on cost and applicability, working in a team setting to complete grant, following through on grant requirements and interim reports.
  • Collaboratively work in team setting to complete grants, communicate with grantor, and follow up on grant requirements.
  • Establish and drive priority initiatives of ECCE programs, including coordinating internally across program areas and externally across key stakeholders.

Leadership (20%)

  • Work with leadership to critically assess status of research department and programs and creatively explore and develop solutions to ensure that clinical programs are data driven.
  • Collaborate with ECCE leadership to advance community programs, partnership development, and research engagement.
  • Identify and oversee partnerships with community stakeholders and outside research entities to ensure accurate dispersal of information about the ECCE research projects.
  • Leading and coordinating CCHCIs internship program for undergraduate and graduate students at universities throughout the country, including advisership, overseeing their work, establishing research priorities, and following up on deliverables.
  • Coordinate, develop agenda, and lead monthly organization-wide research department meetings chaired by the CEO.
  • Identify and oversee potential projects and community events, community trainings and community-wide need assessments.
  • Develop and conduct new research projects to improve current CCHCI programs and projects.

Community-Based Activities (20%)

  • Develop, organize, and run a representative group of parents from First Three in a Family Action Board.
  • Identify community stakeholders, perform community mapping, and organize individuals from the Douglas community in a Community Advisory Board.
  • Develop and update a quarterly newsletter, updating community-, university-, and nationwide-partners on CCHCIs program and research successes and goals.
  • Lead projects surrounding First Three community engagement and public relations. This includes First Three website construction, Facebook page, YouTube channel, and pamphlets.

Administrative (10%) **

  • Coordinate and maintain all Early Childhood Center of Excellence (ECCE) programs.
  • Serve as the go-to coordinator for early childhood research-related projects, communicating actively with different departments throughout CCHCI to ensure that all staff are engaged and up to date.
  • Collect and input data into population management software to keep track of all research participants.
  • Monitor project and research budget to ensure sustainability of current pediatric programs and research studies.
  • Continue to develop research protocols, policies, and procedures to expand the newly created research department.
  • Prepare research presentations for leadership and/or other institutions to build sustainable partnerships.
  • Take inventory of research equipment or supplies to maintain adequate stock of all items.
  • Acquire equipment or supplies necessary for the research projects.
  • Facilitate escalation of issues to timely and effective resolution.

**Currently, the research coordinator takes on a lot of administrative tasks because the department does not have enough staff to complete these tasks. The goal is for the research coordinator to free up time to be more innovative in their work. As we hire more research assistants, which this position can assist with, there will be more opportunities for innovation. These research assistants would come under the supervision of the research coordinator.


Required Education, Experience, Certificates & Licenses:

  • BS/BA required; advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MPH, PhD, social work) preferred.
  • Three years of project management experience preferred. Five years or more of relevant non-profit program management experience advantageous.
  • Experience in community engagement, with experience in building and maintaining partnerships.
  • Experience working on research projects, writing IRBs, analyzing data (quantitative and qualitative) and publishing manuscripts preferred.
  • Experience in program and/or project evaluation, including comfort in use of evaluation tools and methods preferred.
  • Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the necessary skills and sensitivity.
  • Drivers License and Proof of Insurance may be required if requesting mileage reimbursement.
  • Fluent in English. Preferred fluency in Spanish.
  • Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
