Job Description

What were looking for:

Informa Markets - Engineering is seeking an experienced Editor, Branded Content, to drive custom content creation for clients of its portfolio of industry-leading B2B media brands. This content marketing and/or journalism guru will work closely with clients to understand objectives, identify content opportunities that will resonate with the target audience, and execute on custom content development efforts. Custom and sponsored programs leverage our industry-leading brands reputation and audience, and span thought leadership pieces, ghostwritten blogs, white paper development, ebooks, infographics, and other bespoke lead-generation and sponsored products. Content targets a core audience of engineers and other technical professionals in the advanced design and manufacturing sector working across a variety of high-tech markets, including plastics, packaging, medtech, processing, automotive, battery, electronics, 3D printing, and smart manufacturing. Reporting to the Vice President, Content & Strategy, this client-centric content position will be instrumental in expanding the fastest growing part of our business.

You are accountable for:

  • Brainstorming topics with clients and subject matter experts-and validating with data, where available-to identify topics and products that will likely resonate with the audience and deliver on client expectations.
  • Collaborating closely with sales to help consult, conceive, and pitch custom content ideas to clients.
  • Developing a deep understanding of client objectives and expectations, along with tone, timeline, details, etc.
  • Conducting research and interviews, as necessary, to deliver high-quality, targeted custom content for clients.
  • Writing or producing a variety of custom client content, including white papers, thought leadership blogs, sponsored content, and other content types.
  • Revising content, as necessary, per client feedback.
  • Editing contributed sponsored content for style, grammar, quality, and content to maintain brand integrity and ensure effectiveness for clients.
  • Cultivating strong client relationships and ensuring effective two-way communication on projects.
  • Collaborating with the creative team, where appropriate, to ensure projects are professional and visually appealing.
  • Working with centralized teams on messaging and marketing of custom content, as appropriate.
  • Tracking program performance and success, then using that data to make informed future decisions.
  • Managing and/or contributing to additional content projects, as assigned.
  • Building a stable of strong freelancers and managing them to support increased project volume.
  • Adhering to established deadlines.

Qualifications

What you bring to the team:

  • Bachelors degree, preferably in Journalism, Marketing, English, or a similar content-focused field.The
  • At least 5 years of experience in Journalism, Content Marketing, Custom/Branded Content Creation, or a similar content-focused role.
  • Superior, proven content and copywriting chops.
  • Proven experience writing engaging content on technical subject matter for an audience of engineers and/or the advanced design and manufacturing sector preferred. Horizontals include plastics, packaging, 3D printing, contract manufacturing, processing, battery, electronics, smart manufacturing or verticals such as the medical device, food & beverage, aerospace/defense/aviation, chemical, automotive, or other high-tech sectors.
  • Ability to adapt tone and style easily per client and internal direction.
  • Ability to professionally manage and react to constructive feedback or edits from clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of journalism and content marketing best practices in such areas as SEO, headline and subject line writing, etc.
  • Basic MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills.
  • Masterful multitasking abilities and project management skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superb customer service skills.
  • Initiative, passion, and a self-directed work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders across various departments, including sales, editorial, creative, and marketing, among others.
