Job Description

The Education Support Specialist will be responsible for facilitating the testing of nursing students in a computer lab environment and for administrative support of the Northeastern University ABSN academic program team. In this role, you will be responsible for identification, admission, seating, and monitoring of examinees according to guidelines. You will prepare testing materials and exam rooms prior to examinees' arrival, monitor the conduct of examinees during the testing periods and assist with administrative activities in support of students and nursing faculty in partnership with the Program Director and the Office Manager.

Site Location: 67 South Bedford, East Bldg. 300, Burlington, MA 01803

Schedule: 8am to 5pm Monday thru Friday with some flexibility to open/close the site occasionally

What You Will Do:

  • Maintain computer testing and accommodations testing rooms. Maintain Chrome Books (charging, cleaning, storing). Monitor Chrome Books to assure operational status and troubleshoot common problems. Troubleshoot testing issues as necessary. Maintain and update knowledge of current operating technology.
  • Prepare room in advance of scheduled exams. Restore testing area to its previous arrangement prior to exiting following exams.
  • Proctor computer-based exams, including course exams, Kaplan exams, retakes, math exams, etc. Validate appropriate identification for admission to exam. Assist students to log into exam. Monitor exam process and progress. Enforce all rules and regulations as necessary. Follow established protocol for integrity breaches.
  • Manage test scheduling and related procedures. Maintain and manage individual and group scheduling and calendars. Develop exam schedule in partnership with Program Director and Faculty.
  • Provide technical assistance to faculty and students related to testing. Provide administrative support to the Program Director and Office Manager as needed. Perform various tasks, assignments, and projects as directed (open houses, site tours, etc.).
  • Perform additional duties as requested by Program Director, nursing faculty, and Office Manager.

What You Will Have:

  • Experience with MS Office software and Windows environments. Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and learning content management systems (LCMS) is strongly preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in a higher education environment is strongly preferred, but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills. Positive attitude required.
  • Holds high degree of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Must be able to collaborate well with others. Self-directed personality with the ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities on a daily basis.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently and effectively. Ability to learn quickly, follow established procedures and protocols, maintain a controlled environment when computer and exam issues occur.
  • Must have strong customer service skills, be prompt and have a sense of time limits.
