The educator is an advanced generalist prepared at the Bachelors, Masters preferred, degree level. The role involves the holistic knowledge of patients, enhanced communication amongst caregivers and lateral integration of care. The educator possesses specialized clinical, educational, and leadership knowledge. Additionally, the educator is responsible for the development and administration of evidence and theory based clinical staff development programs with the primary goal of improving the quality of patient care. This is accomplished by increasing the competence of all personnel involved in the delivery of patient services through the creation and promotion of teaching, learning, and creating a positive work environment. The educator provides leadership in the application of the learning process to patient care.

Together the education team is responsible for providing:

  • New employee onboarding, including core nursing staff and travel staff
  • New graduate nurse program
  • Resuscitation credential training
  • Unit specific education
  • Basic and advanced electrocardiogram interpretation education
  • Facilitation of nursing and allied health student rotations
  • Coordination of education offerings and device implementation from vendors
  • Preceptorship program
  • Annual education facilitation and coordination with other Arizona Steward facilities
  • Annual contract and budgetary review for educational programs and needs
  • Partnership with Florence Hospital, a Campus of Mountain Vista Medical Center, in delivery and facilitation of their education needs
  • Review and analyze computer-based training modules; coordination with corporate education for new module development when applicable

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Masters Degree preferred
  • Minimum experience 3-5 years, 5+ years preferred
  • State of Arizona RN license required
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS certification required; instructor certification preferred, or ability to obtain within 90 days
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to include human, fiscal and capital resources
  • Practices and facilitates education offerings in a manner that is sensitive to cultural diversity
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while being adaptable and demonstrating efficient time management skills
  • Willingness to flex schedule to accommodate education needs for all shifts
  • Ability to gather, analyze and assess data from various reputable sources
  • Knowledgeable on all regulatory requirements to include local, state, and national requirements, specifically DNV
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to exercise independent judgment in the completion of assignments and duties
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
