ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS:
This position works with elders on a daily basis. The position delivers meals,
transports elders to various functions, and travel when necessary. The Elderly Coordinator schedules various
activities for elders such as bingo and holiday events.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Elderly Coordinator is primarily responsible for coordinating services provided to the elderly of the
Community. This position advocates, supports and coordinates respective programs and services serving the
elderly and works closely with other tribal departments to help ensure the elderly are achieving the highest
possible quality of life.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintain a budget that is within the operation of the elderly building.Identify and coordinate programs that provide services for Community elderly.Act as advocate for individual Tribal elders in assuring the timely provision of different services designed for
the elderly.Supervise and participate in daily activities of assigned staff engaged in a variety of community service
activities as necessary.Coordinate transportation requests for the elderly activities that require use of Community vehicles.
Maintain communication with elderly groups within respective Districts to provide them with programs and
services.Prepare program brochures and other informational items for dissemination to the elderly.Make sure the building is a safe place for the elders and other who visit.Establishes and maintain effective working relationships with employees, Community Officials and the
general public.May be required to oversee building and facility maintenance functions.Prepare correspondence, reports and other documents as needed and assigned.Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY:0 Knowledge of and experience in administrative procedures and reporting systems.Knowledge of economic, educational, social and health problems of Native Americans, especially the elderly.
Basic knowledge of the Gila River Indian Community and its procurement regulations.Ability to utilize computers and related applications software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, database,
etc.).Ability to understand and speak the Pima language, OOdham or Maricopa.Ability to express ideas clearly, orally and in writing.Ability to supervise effectively.Ability to prepare required correspondence, reports and records.Ability to communicate and negotiate favorably with other Tribal departments and programs;Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Officials
and the general public.
0 Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free workplace.REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Management, Geriatrics, Social Services or a
closely related field and a minimum of two (2) years in elderly administration, elderly programs, or office
management experience in a Community Service environment with one (1) year of supervisory experience;
Oro Five (5) years7 experience in elderly administration, elderly programs or of?ce management experience in a
Community Service environment which included one (1) year supervisory experience.ADDITIONAL RE! QUIREMENTS:Required to pass a background check. Background checks are required for positions that involve regular contact
with or control over Community Children in accordance with The Indian Child Protection and Family Violence
Prevention Act, 25 U.S.C. Sections 3201 through 3210 and C.F.R. Part 63 and positions that have regular
contact with the Elderly.Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving record
for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record must be
submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission of the
