Position Summary

UNMs Facilities Management has a great opportunityfor an Electrician2 to join our team. The qualified candidate will troubleshoot and repair facility electrical systems, controls andcomponents; lay out, permit and install new electrical secondary servicesystems, which include panels, breakers, disconnects, and switches. Ability toaccurately size, bend and install conduits from " to 4" in size and varioustypes. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics. Abilityto understand power distribution systems and one line drawings. Workingknowledge of the maintenance and repair of Life Safety Systems.

Facilities Management isresponsible for the care and upkeep of the physical campus environment.Totaling more than 12 million square feet of interior space and 680 acres ofland.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within 6 months of date of hire.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 4 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.Possession of a current New Mexico Journeyman Electrician's License,

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications

Proven experience in the following:

  • Maintaining and troubleshooting Variable Frequency Drivers.
  • Testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing low voltage digital control devices.
  • Maintaining Energy Power Generators.
  • Experience troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining existing Facilities electrical systems and components.
  • Working knowledge of the use of Electrical PPE including the LOTO process.
  • Experience with LED lighting and lighting control systems.
  • Maintaining accurate preventive and corrective maintenance records in portable recording devises (iPad)
  • Excellent Problem Solving & Communication Skills
