DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The Electrician is responsible for skilled electrical work in the installation, maintenance, repair of electrical wiring
systems, appliances and performs related assigned duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
0 Repair, replace, and modify old service in order to update or conform to new requirements.
0 Types of services encountered are: power, heat, ventilation or refrigeration and lights.
0 Install wiring, outlets, fixtures, switches and circuit boards.
0 Read and interpret schematics to determine standards, procedures to follow in repairing or installing electrical
wiring, fixtures and appliances.
0 Perform preventative maintenance by inspecting, cleaning, adjusting or replacing motors, generators,
batteries, clocks, pumps and bells.
0 Keep records of work performed and materials used0 Order material when needed for repairs and replacements.
0 Test electrical apparatus with various meters to detect shorts, worn out or weak components or defective
connections.
0 May make emergency service calls.
0 Follow current building codes adopted by the Gila River Indian Community.
0 Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:0 Knowledge of the tools, equipment and material common to the electrical trade.
0 Knowledge of the codes, standards, regulations pertaining to the repair, modification and replacement of
electrical services, fixtures and apparatus.Skill in the trade of an electrician.Knowledge of the various brands and types of electrically powered apparatus.Must be dependable, able to work under pressure and meet established deadlines.Ability to sketch circuits to create ideas for design of services.Ability to maintain safety standards in working with potentially dangerous high voltage services.
0 Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Officials and the
general public.
0 Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free workplace.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- High School diploma or GED and a minimum of completion of a two (2) year electrical apprenticeship
program and three (3) years as a journey level electrician or skilled electrician; Or0 High school diploma or GED and four (4) years commercial or institutional experience in electrical
installation, maintenance or repair work.ADDITIONAL REg QUIREMENT:

- Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission
of the applicationPositions located with the District Service Centers and Facilities Maintenance
Department:0 Required to a pass background check and fingerprint clearance as a condition of employment and must
continue to maintain throughout duration of employment. Background checks are required for positions that
involve regular contact with or control over Community Children in accordance with The Indian Child
Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, 25 U.S. C. Sections 3201 through 3210 and C.F.R. Part 63
