HOURS: This is a Full-Time position with 80 hours a pay period (1.0 FTE). The schedule may vary to meet department needs. Weekend and holiday shifts may be required.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The supervisor acts as a resource and assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of policies, forms and practice standards for the Emergency Department.
  • Maintains the Alaska Trauma Registry and facilitates multidisciplinary Trauma Committee engagement alongside Medical Staff.
  • Provide leadership for time-sensitive and publicly-reported services in the Emergency Department, including but not limited to: STEMI and Stroke.
  • This position serves as a resource for clinical practice, education and skills in the Emergency Department and other departments.
  • Serve as a liaison with other hospital departments, local agencies and EMS providers.
  • Assist the director in the creation, implementation and continuation with the upgrade of the electronic charting and medical records in the department.
  • This position is non-union and exempt under the laws of the FLSA.
  • The Emergency Services Supervisor reports to the Emergency Services Director.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education/License/Certifications:
    • Minimum requirement of an associates degree from an accredited school of Nursing. A bachelors degree is preferred.
    • Active license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska
    • Required Trauma Registrar Certification
    • Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (PALS)
    • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC)
    • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
  • Work Experience:
    • Minimum of two (2) years experience in an emergency setting is required.
    • Experience with the Alaska Trauma Registry is preferred.
