POSITION SUMMARY

The Employee Health Nurse will be responsible for establishing protocols and current standards of care to meet the wide variety of healthcare needs of Adelante Healthcares employee population.

The Employee Health Nurse will follow the Joint Commission (TJC), Arizona Department of Health and Services (ADHS), Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), and other regulatory agency requirements regarding employee health practices. Additionally, the RN will identify health hazards and risks in the workplace, assess health statuses, and promote good overall health.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A valid AZ Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing without restrictions is required.
  • Bachelors degree in nursing required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in healthcare required.
  • Valid, unrestricted AZ Drivers License required.
  • Employee health experience preferred.
  • Certification to perform cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for the Health Care Professional (CPR) and AED through courses that follow the guidelines from the American Heart Association and Red Cross (cognitive and skills evaluations).
  • Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance card or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) laws preferred.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Highly detail-oriented and capable of developing innovative solutions to complex issues using available and custom tools.
  • An ability to work independently, exercise creativity, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize work schedules.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of employee health records.
  • Comply with the organizations immunization requirements.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform clinical duties in support of the Employee Health functions by establishing internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Create, maintain, and update employee health files according to established procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Review policies and procedures to ensure they cover the health needs of employees, including tuberculosis screenings, tuberculosis testing, vaccinations, declinations or exceptions, and other documentation requirements.
  • Evaluate the Employee Health Program annually based on employee data, regional vulnerabilities, statistical data, and emerging trends.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employees reporting actual or perceived clinical exposures.
  • Inspect, verify, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements regarding vaccinations, TB screenings, vaccination declination, and exceptions, color blindness, volunteer respirator attestations, Quantitative Fit Tests, lab order submission, review of ASIIS records, and Chest X-rays.
  • Monitor the completion of employee health vaccination/testing requirements including completion of vaccination series and tuberculosis testing.
  • coordination of center supports annual respiratory season vaccinations and TB screening.
  • Filing and maintenance of employee health records required for the State Book
  • Assess and follow up with Employees who incur a work-related injury or exposure and track occupational health visit documentation and clearance to return to work.
  • Educate new employees before and during orientation about the Employee Health Program requirements and workplace safety practices.
  • Assess and provide recommendations for employees with ergonomic concerns related to their work duties.
  • Assess, educate, and monitor staff exposure and disposal practices of hazardous chemicals in the workplace.
  • Investigate employee health-related incidents reported to the incident management database.
  • Collaborate with People Services in the evaluation of health education/promotion needs of employees.
  • Produce data analysis, written reports, and presentations for Quality and Safety/Sharps Committees
  • Analyze data trends and develop action plans to comply with state and federal regulations.
  • Support continuous quality improvement activities in the Employee Health Program
  • Develop Standing Orders (S.O.) by following the S.O. components: condition for use, assessment, subjective findings, objective findings, plan of care, and criteria for contacting a provider.
  • Implement Employee Health program Standing Orders following the Standing Orders policy and procedure.

NONESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in a Community Health Center

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance and may occasionally be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time when traveling to various clinic sites. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee may be subject to health hazards (contagious diseases, blood-borne pathogens, etc.) when working in the clinic area.
