DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Employment Coordinator provides case management services to participants in assigned programs and is
responsible for the development of sound employability plans leading to positive terminations. This position
provides a wide variety of participant services concentrating on individual employment planning and the
development and maintenance of competency based programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
0 Must be familiar with and be able to utilize the department of Labor Employment & Training Manual,
specifically in areas of administration, training, employment, and support services.
0 Counsel participants in an effort to 1) establish a sound employment plan, 2) to identify and resolve barriers
to employment, 3) address personal issues effecting employment, i.e., alcohol and drug abuse problems, etc.,
4) guide participants through the vocational process, and, 5) educate participants on appropriate work habits
and attitudes.
0 Select participants for programs based on test results, work history, potential for success motivation,
transferable skills, barriers and vocational interests via the staf?ng process.
0 Develop new opportunities for clients, both on and off reservation as needed, i.e., school employers, work
sites, acts as liaison between work sites and participants or participants and instructors.
0 May conduct job development orientation, testing, staffing sessions, vocational classes or van driving as
needed or fill in for other staff as needed.
0 Assist intake and MIS staff in recruitment efforts and follow-up on behalf of Department participants.
0 Coordinate with Administrative Assistant and MIS to insure all staff and file paper work i.e.,
contract/agreements and monthly reports are turned in on time, collect time sheets and ensure accuracy per
department, federal and state standards and regulations.
0 Maintain a positive close working relationship with staff and participants and outside agencies and
departments; maintain contact with clients and document clearly and regularly in participant files per
departmental requirements.
0 Attend and participate in all staff meetings and staf?ng, and training set up by department.
0 Ensure program compliance with grant performance standards in reaching positive termination percentages,
which differ each program year.Utilize the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT) system and all department resources in order to provide
a quality program for participants.
Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:Considerable knowledge of environment and cultural factors in?uencing the behavior of individuals in off
reservation employment situations.Considerable knowledge of Community and private organizations, human services agencies, employment
services programs and other resources.Knowledge of careers including, requirements and opportunities in a variety of occupations.Knowledge of grant guidelines and performance standards (Federal & State).Knowledge of motivational techniques and be able to maintain positive client rapport.Ability to understand client problems and needs from their perspective.Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Ability to demonstrate or learn public speaking skills.Ability to communicate and discuss client employability potential with program staff and client leading to a
sound employability plan.Ability to assess client skills, test scores, work history, aptitudes and match to appropriate occupation.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Officials
and the public.Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free workplace.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Associate's degree in Social Services, Psychology, Counseling or a closely related field and a minimum of
two (2) years case management and employment, job development or vocational counseling experience; Or
Four (4) years work experience in any combination of employment, job development or vocational
counseling, case management or grant experience, i.e. WIOA/TANF experience.Grant experience preferred.ADDITIONAL RE! EUIREMENTS:Required to pass a background check and fingerprint clearance as a condition of employment and must
continue to maintain throughout the duration of employment. Background checks are required for positions
that involve regular contact with or control over Community Children in accordance with The Indian Child
Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, 25 U.S. C. Sections 3201 through 3210 and C.F.R. Part 63
and positions that have regular contact with the Elderly.Required to Obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission
