Job Description

Position: RF Engineer III Job Description Summary

An RF Engineer III is the most senior engineering position at LINX Wireless. This role is responsible for all technical aspects related to the delivery of a fully functional RF communication system (DAS, D-RAN, ERRCS, CBRS, Private Radio), while adhering to the financial parameters of the project. Specific responsibilities include:

Execution of site surveys:

o Collect benchmark data per company standards.

o Identify and document site conditions that are relevant to completion of a constructable design (pathway, ceiling / wall types, power, access, etc.).

o This may involve personally performing the work or managing someone else.

System design:

o Utilize tools such as iBwave to develop solutions that meet performance standards, building codes and can be efficiently constructed.

? This includes analyzing benchmark data and importing it into iBwave to ensure proper design goals are being used.

o Produce and review BOMs for accuracy.

Commissioning and troubleshooting:

o Develop and execute a system test plan based on the scope of work.

o Capture necessary data and installation photos to verify installation and system performance.

Creation and review of documentation:

o Ensure permit sets and construction drawings contain all relevant code and construction details and match the system design.

o Review and analyze system performance data to ensure that the system is operating as expected.

o Ensure close out packages contain necessary detail (as-built design drawings, cable and coverage test results, photos, warranty information, etc.).

o Ensure that all documentation is uploaded to the appropriate folder.

Work with other team members to ensure successful delivery of projects:

o Support Sales and Estimating with preliminary designs, ROMs, and by participating in customer calls.

o Support Project Managers by directing the technical execution of assigned projects (ensure proper installation of the design, verify correct testing procedures are followed, validate test results, commission / optimize systems, capture appropriate data to validate system performance, assemble and review closeout package, etc.).

o Support installation team with technical assistance needed to complete projects.

o Assist in the development of technical standards and train team members as needed.

o Participate in project post-mortem calls to review lessons learned.

Reporting Relationship

The RF Engineer III reports directly to the Director of Engineering.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Four-year college degree in Engineering or a technical field, Electrical Engineering or RF Engineering preferred. Equivalent work experience considered.

A minimum of 5 years of In-building Telecommunications / DAS / ERRCS / industry experience required.

Demonstrated success (references required) delivering large venue projects such as stadiums, airports, hospitals, convention centers, casinos, campus environments, MDUs, etc.

Must be proficient with computer software and systems (ibwave, Microsoft Office, etc.)

Demonstrated experience utilizing test equipment (Sweep, PIM, Spectrum Analyzer, Scanner, Test Phones, etc.)

Travel Requirements

Frequent overnight domestic travel, up to 30% required

Organizational and Time Management Skills

Self-directed individual. Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at various stages of completion. Ability to commit to deadlines and meet them.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, building code or other governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, managers, and customers.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry, including logarithmic scaling.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Physical

Must be able to navigate uneven ground in all weather and soil conditions over hilly terrain with obstacles.

Must be capable of meeting all requirements to work on construction sites of various general contractors both safety and security related.

Must have average visual ability for both distance and close-up observations.

Must have good depth perception and ability to distinguish color differentials.

Must have hearing sufficient, for example, to hear cars, verbal signals at a moderate distance and to communicate by two-way radio.

Valid Driver's License

Ability to obtain manufacturer certifications as needed

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for a Denver-based RF Engineer III is $90,000-$120,000 per year. Cell phone allowance.
