New Hire Addendum November 21, 2021

As of November 21, 2021, all new employees are required to comply with the vaccination requirements outlined in CPLCs Vaccination Policy as soon as practicable and as a condition of employment. Potential candidates for employment will be notified of the requirements of this policy prior to the start of employment and will be required to obtain vaccination within two weeks of their initial start date, or provide an exemption request, and receive approval, prior to their initial start date. If an exemption is approved, new employees must wear masks in the workplace and report weekly COVID-19 testing beginning on their initial start date.


PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to provide quality instruction pertinent to the subject area
  • Extensive knowledge of cooperative learning strategies, differentiation, small group instruction, knowledge of developing formative and summative assessments to inform instruction
  • Ability to incorporate research-proven teaching strategies into daily lesson delivery
  • Ability to use interactive whiteboards and applications
  • Be familiar with the AZ State Standards of English Language Arts and English Language Proficiency Standards
  • Ability to integrate reading and writing into the English Language Arts curriculum
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Ability to maintain positive attitude and build positive and appropriate relationships with students


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in education or content area preferred
  • Highly qualified in the content area or knowledgeable in the content area
  • Comprehensive knowledge of AZ State Standards and English Language Proficiency Standards
  • Must possess a valid Class 1 or Class 2 Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety
  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues in planning for academic improvement in academic areas other than your own, as needed
  • Deep understanding of English concepts and inquiry-based instruction
  • Willingness to teach multiple grades and subject levels
  • Willingness to differentiate instruction
  • Willingness to oversee/ advise extracurricular activities (student clubs, intramural sports, music instruction, etc.)
  • Willingness to work with students before or after school to support their academic growth
  • Experience utilizing community experts and community resources to enhance content instruction preferred
  • Experience building student and parent relationships to improve student achievement
  • Experience working with an At-Risk/underserved Student Population (Preferred)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMPETENCIES

Curriculum Planning and Delivery
    1. Deliver exceptional standards-based instruction in the assigned content area(s) and grade level(s) that ensures academic growth for ALL students
    2. Develop daily and unit lesson plans that are thoughtful, goal-oriented, and aligned with the curriculum and the AZ State Standards
    3. Communicate regularly with parents and be available for Open Houses, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and other events involving parents
    4. Be available to provide students with homework help before and after school
    5. Develop and implement detailed plans that support student learning, in keeping with the schools priorities and structures: (EX: Portfolio creation; Passage/ Graduation Presentation preparation; internship support; wellness planning; student-led conference preparation; exhibition of student work preparation; culture building)
    6. Continuously collect student data and analyze to drive classroom instruction (formative and summative assessments)
    7. Collaborate with colleagues to create and implement interdisciplinary standard-based project learning
    8. Incorporate explicit literacy instruction (reading and writing) into content-area lesson plans
    9. Incorporate core curriculum and instructional practice into daily lessons and units

  1. Classroom Management
    1. Develop appropriate positive relationships with students, including explicit recognition of their growth (e.g., positive calls home, positive notes, etc.)
    2. Consistently implement the school-wide student management policies within classrooms and everywhere on campus
    3. Assessment
      1. Regularly assess student mastery of key skills and concepts and use this data to differentiate instruction to meet student needs
      2. Maintain accurate, thorough records of student achievement and behavioral performance and complete Progress Reports and Report Cards promptly and as scheduled
      3. Participate in data analysis meetings
      4. Professional Development
        1. Master the necessary content knowledge and skills to successfully teach assigned content area(s) and grade level(s)
        2. Punctually attend and positively contribute at all daily and/or weekly staff meetings
        3. Grow as a professional educator with classes/workshops for professional development (in specific areas of interest and/or need) and coaching and feedback from principal and peers
        4. Participate in ongoing professional development, which includes participating in a Professional Learning Community (PLC) focusing on effective instructional practice
        5. Attend content area and school team meetings focusing on assessment, curriculum development, and instructional practice
        6. Participate in professional growth meetings with the principal

        7. JOB DEMANDS

          Requires vision and hearing and the ability to speak, write, print, and draw. Work in the job involves being active at all times in the classroom. Requires moving from one location to another. Other physical activity includes reaching, stooping, bending, holding, grasping and lifting heavy objects. Visual weakness must not prohibit the performing of assigned duties. Verbal communicative ability required.


          TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

          Indoor classroom environment and some outdoor activities away from the primary work environment. All weather conditions/temperatures. Contact with the public, employees, children, and parents. Work with At-Risk Student population.
