Job Description

The incumbent in this technical position is responsible for environmental inspections of private and public stormwater conveyance systems and infrastructure, and erosion control assessments of private and public construction sites for compliance with federal and local guidelines, ordinances, rules and regulations. The individual provides educational services on environmental aspects of stormwater operations; responds to Tribal Member complaints, spills, and illicit discharges; performs technical work to assist in the protection of the Tribe's stormwater conveyance system; assists in the implementation of stormwater quality programs and supports the Tribe's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Stormwater requirements. The Environmental Inspector I provides compliance assistance with federal guidelines to Tribal Members, Tribal facilities, federal facilities; and performs task related to the assessment, remediation, and closure of contaminated sites. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Natural Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Civil or Environmental Engineering or closely related field, is required. A minimum of two (2) years previous technical experience and/or training in a related area of work, such as: stormwater management, compliance inspection, pollution control, water quality monitoring, environmental assessment, ecological impact analysis, wetland permitting, environmental permitting, environmental code enforcement, chemistry, computerized mapping, environmental remediation, and/or personal computer operations is required. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job may be considered, in lieu of educational credential. Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Inspector (FSESCI) is preferred, or ability to obtain within two (2) years of full-time employment. Forty (40) Hour HAZWOPER Certification is preferred, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of full-time employment. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 Small Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Remote Pilot Certification is preferred, or ability to obtain within two (2) years of full-time employment. The incumbent may be required to obtain a license (s) in area of assigned work. Demonstrate excellent organizational and administrative skills including English written and oral communication skills. Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills utilizing Microsoft software programs and add-ins and ESRI ArcGIS software. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license. Ability to travel to all Seminole Tribe of Florida Reservations and Tribally owned lands. Able to work a flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
