Job Description

Grand Canyon Universitys Campus Technology department is seeking an Event AV Supervisor. Responsible for ensuring that classrooms and events are operationally ready to function with needed audio-visual equipment and systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises, coordinates and plans setup, operations and tear downs of audio visual equipment used during events including academic events, student events, sporting events and outside events being held on campus.
  • Meet with end users to establish production planning and equipment needs to establish costs and labor scheduling for all events in order to establish budget forecasting and managing within projected quotes.
  • Supervise, train and develop a team of technicians that support all forms of campus events on campus.
  • Maintain operations standards involving production operation, safety, maintenance and analysis of performance of completed events.
  • Primary liaison with vendors and/or event show teams for any campus wide event requested campus technology needs.
  • Primary liaison with rental vendors for all technical rental, which includes getting rental quotes, coordinating pickup and drop off times as well as managing any needed rental labor for required events.
  • Coordinates corrective and preventative maintenance on electrical components related to audio, video, lighting, and production systems throughout campus ensuring all preventative maintenance is executed to ensure steady state operability.
  • Assist management in establishing and communicating goals, performance expectations, timetables and deadlines for shift or departmental operations to hourly employees and ensure that they are understood.
  • Encourage and motivate employees to perform their best, take responsibility for tasks and assignments, make decisions and provide input on possible improvements.
  • Listen to hourly employees' suggestions for improving how work is done and how guests are served, gaining management support as needed to act upon suggestions.
  • Assist management to ensure that hourly employees have the necessary resources to effectively perform their jobs (e.g., supplies, equipment, and inventory).
  • Ensure that hourly employees are trained on GCUs core values, job roles, responsibilities, and technical and service aspects of the job.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and carry-out ideas and procedures, and set goals to continuously improve department performance around customer satisfaction scores.
  • Ensure employee compliance with company standards and policies and external regulations (e.g., safety, OSHA, department-specific procedures such as food standards).
  • Provides oversight and acts as point contact which includes student workers and regular full-time staff. Works under general direction and has the authority to establish performance expectations and recommend process improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and operating audio visual equipment set up and maintenance.
  • Must have valid drivers license and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background check.
  • Must be able to work evenings and some weekends due to operational support needs.
  • Promotes excellent customer service and adheres to SLA response times Enforces quality of service guidelines for dealing with customers, completing services and overall customer satisfaction.
  • Must be proficient in identifying, troubleshooting and resolving hardware issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of customers.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while working under pressure.
  • Willingness and able to effectively monitor telephone conversations and provide constructive feedback to enhance an individuals service performance.
  • Develops collaborative relationships with staff and builds cohesive teams to facilitate workloads and accomplishment of business goals.
  • Strong telephone and interpersonal skills in order to maintain good customer relationships.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours.
  • Computer literacy with common business applications (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.).
