Job Description

New Alternatives, Inc. is a nonprofit agency that serves children, youth and families who have been impacted by Trauma. Our agency has a proven track record of providing trauma informed services that are responsive, engaging and effective. Currently we are looking for an Administrative Executive Assistant with strong editing and wordsmithing skills to support one or more senior-level managers. This individual will work in a diverse and complex environment; and includes some customer and executive contact.

Required Skills:

  • 1-2 years editing experience, editing grants, proposals or written materials -REQUIRED
  • Clear communication skills, both verbally and in written form
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft office, G Suite and Adobe programs
  • Possesses strong organizational and interpersonal skills, leadership, negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Management of various, concurrent deadlines
  • Ability to problem solve independently and self manage projects
  • Positive and approachable attitude
  • Proven expertise in editing spelling, grammar and wordsmithing-REQUIRED

Responsibilities:

  • Edit and draft of contracts, grants, reports and publications
  • Create and distribute professional correspondence
  • Tabulate and track performance data
  • Manage vendors and obtain bids for services
  • Manage monthly training events
  • Monitor for new funding opportunities and proposals
  • Organize recruitment and selection, including advertising, short-listing applicants and correspondence
  • As needed administrative tasks to support multiple managers
  • Answer telephone calls and channels call appropriately, take and disseminate messages when necessary and respond to inquiries in a courteous manner
  • Google Drive and Calendar management
  • Adherence to a strict code of professionalism when it comes to confidential items
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft office, G Suite and Adobe programs

Preferred Skills:

  • May also possess specialized industry skill/knowledge of County of San Diego’s Online Procurement System, Buynet
  • Experience editing grants, proposals or RFPs

Other Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in English, Literature, Creative Writing, Communications, Linguistics or related field

Background and Fingerprint Clearances

Flexible work hours are available

30- 40 hours a week

$20.00 -$23.00/ hourly, depending on experience
