Job Description

Facilities Management, Facilities Technology Systems, seeks a Facilities Energy Management Analyst to assist with routine analysis of user needs and the design and implementation of new or modified energy management information systems. Assists in the administration, maintenance, and operation of the university’s energy metering and reporting systems, including SQL database management.

Essential Duties

·        Assists in problem solving in areas such as system design, input/output requirements and data processing and reporting.

·        Performs specific tasks in management analysis of energy use data; prepares reports and recommends alternatives for enhancing operating efficiency.

·        Assists with the review and evaluation of energy metering hardware and software to determine its usefulness and appropriateness as related to existing or proposed university goals and operational needs.

·        Assists with research, including conferring with vendors, to resolve questions and problems related to metering and data collection hardware and software and assists in consulting with and advising users in the selection and use of energy use data and trends.

·        Identifies, troubleshoots, and repairs any issues with the FM databases

·        Programs the ASU Energy Information System (EIS) to accept new or replacement energy meters

·        Programs all data points into the EIS front end

·        Programs field level Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) devices, meters arrays and gateways

·        Works in the field as required

·        Creates reports, scripts and stored procedures to be run against FM databases

·        Maintains the PM diagnostic reporting system for EIS meters

·        Assists faculty, staff and students in gathering data from our databases for their research projects

DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 7:00 pm – 3:30 pm. 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Business Administration of related field AND one year of experience in procedural, management or systems analysis work; OR, Five years of experience in procedural, management or systems analysis work; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

·        Experience in modern programming environments, forms design and procedures development

·        Experience in energy metering technology, equipment, and data collection

·        Experience in low voltage communications wiring

·        Experience in utilizing SQL databases, running reports, and analyzing data

·        Experience in operating and maintaining energy metering equipment

·        Demonstrated knowledge of the fundamentals of steam, chilled water, and electrical energy usage and concepts

·        Evidence of effective communication skills.

Working Environment

Work in extreme and varying temperatures, restricted movements, confined spaces (tunnels, manholes, vaults), and intense noise. Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 60 pounds is required. Wear personal protective equipment (e.g. safety glasses, face shield, gloves). Drive University vehicle and/or cart. May be exposed to hazardous and dangerous materials, tools, and equipment which will require safety precautions and/or specific process to be followed, and may include the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) (e.g. safety glasses, hearing protection, negative pressure and positive pressure respirator). Use of PPE may require medical clearance prior to use.

This position is located at the Tempe campus.

Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license (minimum of Class D) upon employment and maintain throughout employment. Post-offer of employment, selected candidate must possess an acceptable driving record which is 5 or fewer points in the most recent 39 month period from date of hire.

Must pass pre-employment physical examination post offer of employment to include audiogram, asbestos worker clearance, respiratory clearance questionnaire and respiratory fit test.

This position requires working a rotating on-call/stand-by schedule and may be called in for emergency response including nights, weekends, and holidays.

This position is considered safety/security sensitive and will include a fingerprint check. Employment is contingent upon successful passing of the fingerprint check.

This position is dependent on the continuation of funding from a specific source other than state appropriations. As such, this appointment may terminate when the funding is no longer available.
