Position Description
Performs skilled maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and other physical structures. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Part of the 24/7 coverage crew that will work graveyard shifts, weekends, and holidays. Must be extremely dependable to perform the job functions.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Responsible for ensuring that all 24/7 shifts are properly staffed and monitors the quality, promptness and actions taken on 24/7 troubleshooting tasks.
  • Works with other trades and maintenance staff to complete maintenance and installation of building systems.
  • Prepare and submit work documentation, to include work order submission, changes to system (e.g. directories) and PMs.
  • Ensures documentation is prepared in a timely and accurate manner to efficiently monitor equipment.
  • Updates, maintains and coordinates information and schematic drawings pertaining to the facilities mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Installs and maintain mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and equipment such as HVAC, boilers, metasys, controls, valves, VFDs, etc.
  • Performs preventive maintenance functions as assigned.
  • Responds to and corrects, work related calls such as temperature or odor complaints. Performs on call duties as required.
  • Monitors water treatment programs to ensure the efficient utilization of water and chemicals to minimize waste. Responds to emergency calls in a timely and efficient manner to promptly correct the issue.
  • Monitors and controls fire alarm systems and responds to life safety alarms and trouble signals in accordance with existing procedures and routines.
  • Monitor and adjust set points and operating parameters to optimize systems and equipment under the guidance of mechanical tradesman leader and superintendent.
  • Maintains and monitors building energy management System. Produce reports and energy consumption trends for analysis.
  • Actively participates and completes training, personal development and continuing education.
  • Must have and maintain valid State of Texas Drivers License and be listed as an approved driver as determined by Risk Management and insurance carrier. Must be able to pass the employee Criminal Background Check.
  • Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes.
  • Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEPs values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution.

  • Basic knowledge and ability to install, operate, maintain and install of building systems and associated equipment.
  • Skilled in proper use of the tools, equipment and devices used in the construction and maintenance trade.
  • Knowledge of occupational and safety hazards of the trade, PPE and industry accepted practices to prevent accidents.
  • Able to work and respond on weekends, holidays and after hours.
  • Basic understanding of other trades and able to perform or assist in the completion of them.
