Position Summary

UNMs FacilitiesManagement (FM) has a great opportunity for two (2) highly motivated individuals to join our team as a Facilities Services Tech in FM-Area 4 that services theSouthwest side of campus. The qualified candidates will perform a wide range offacilities services tasks including non-technical maintenance of plumbing,electrical, heating, ventilating, and/or air conditioning facilities andequipment, at a level not requiring formal licensure. This position may also berequired to perform tasks of other unlicensed trades, such as a light equipmentoperator, carpenter, painter, and/or locksmith.

Facilities Management isresponsible for the care and upkeep of the physical campus environment.Totaling more than 12 million square feet of interior space and 680 acres ofland. In addition, our department maintains the Universitys district energysystem providing electricity, steam, chilled water and domestic water throughits own distribution systems.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.

  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • If located at the UNM Children's Campus, successful candidate must pass a comprehensive post-offer, pre-employment criminal and New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) fingerprint background check, and a continued successful status will be verified by periodic future background checks.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

High school diploma or GED; successful completion of PPD Trades Training Program and at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in one or more building trades (i.e. HVAC, Plumbing, Structural, etc.)
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment
  • Proven experience using hand and power tools
  • Experience following safety procedures
  • Experience in maintaining accurate preventive and corrective maintenance records in a portable recording device (iPad)
