Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean, the Coordinator of the Center for Worship Arts provides vital leadership and oversight within the College of Theologys undergraduate worship arts programs. In support of the Dean and Assistant Dean and in coordination with various stakeholders in the Center for Worship Arts, the Coordinator also serves as a member of the theology faculty and Department Chair for the BA in Worship Arts program. The Coordinator supports the development and growth of worship arts programs by coordinating various aspects and activities related to the worship arts curriculum and co-curriculum. This role is primarily administrative but entails a teaching load related to worship arts in addition to other responsibilities.

What you will do:

  • Works collaboratively with the leadership of the College of Theology, the College of Arts and Media, and designees within both colleges on to coordinate various aspects and activities related to a worship arts curriculum and co-curriculum and serves as BA in Worship Arts Department Chair

  • Provides leadership for Worship Labs and Worship Internship courses while coordinating with instructors teaching other sections and inviting guest speakers who contribute to student understanding, formation, and skill development.

  • Works with university counselors, the Program Manager, and the College of Arts and Media to resolve student scheduling issues as well as brainstorming and implementing new opportunities for community development and enrollment growth.

  • Leads and supports initiatives related to the promotion of the Center for Worship Arts and worship arts programs in order to increase visibility and knowledge of the program among prospective students and local churches and reviews student auditions prior to admission into a Worship Arts program.

  • Provides guidance and support for instructors within the BA in Worship Arts programs who teach under the auspices of the College of Theology as well as the College of Arts and Media.

  • Assists in developing a rigorous and theologically sound Worship Arts curriculum that attains to artistic excellence and Christ-honoring creativity.

  • Develops relationships with external stakeholders for the sake of expanding internship opportunities for students in local churches and other Christian organizations as well as increasing ecclesial support of the Worship Arts program.

  • Supports students as they seek and attempt to secure internship and ministry positions in coordination with the Office of Field Experience and Career Services.

  • Manages annual Canyon Worship production projects and coordinates promotional activities and initiatives related to the album.

  • Teaches relevant subjects in the field of expertise to undergraduate students related to worship arts and actively participates in department, college and university committees.

What you will need:

  • The ideal candidate will have earned a PhD or DMin from an accredited institution in the area of systematic theology, pastoral theology, or ministry and will possess significant worship leadership experience and exceptional communication skills.

  • Teaching experience at the college level and significant involvement with a local church are highly valued.

  • All faculty in GCUs College of Theology are required to sign and teach in accordance with the universitys Doctrinal Statement and the College of Theology Covenant.

  • If necessary, additional materials such as a sample sermon, lesson, or performance may be requested.

  • Basic knowledge of worship-related software such as ProTools is preferred.

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the Universitys Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
