Overview

The Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute (LBRI) is the nation's largest non-profit research institute dedicated to the prevention, treatment and cure of respiratory diseases. Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lovelace is committed to the advancement and improvement of public health through a variety of basic, applied and clinical biomedical research.

With an extended community of Faculty, researchers, graduate students and technicians, LBRI is uniquely positioned to provide a broad research resources to Faculty members committed to advancing our mission.

We are currently seeking Faculty members at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full-Professor level to join LBRI and be a part of our collaborative research team. Applicants should have a demonstrated research expertise and record of accomplishment in any area of Virology relevant to Lung Cancer, Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Immunology, Gene Therapy, or Respiratory Tract Infection and disease.

LBRI provides state of the art research space along with opportunities for funding and administrative support.

LBRI will provide robust Institutional support to Faculty members to expand research laboratories and programs, and to support them in establishing well-funded, rigorous and competitive research programs to support LBRIs overall research program.

LBRIs affiliation agreement with the University of New Mexico allows for adjunct faculty appointments, training of students in the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program, and fosters collaboration across the Health Sciences Research Programs and the University of New Mexicos NCI Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

With over 120 animal models for respiratory research and breeding facilities for genetically engineered mouse models, LBRI provides a rich environment for collaboration and translation of basic research findings to in vivo models. Our well-established pre-clinical investigational drug safety program allows opportunities to extend work into human clinical trials for respiratory and non-respiratory diseases.

Qualifications

The Faculty positions require a Ph.D. or M.D., demonstrated experience managing an independent research laboratory at a similar research or academic organization, and an outstanding record of publications and research accomplishments relevant to the candidates focus area(s) of research.

Candidates are required to have a demonstrated history of success obtaining funding awards at the RO1 (or equivalent) level. Faculty members are expected to develop collaborative working relationships with all LBRI researchers and Faculty colleagues.

Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, and the starting date is negotiable for Faculty opportunities. Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute offers competitive salaries, generous retirement contributions and a comprehensive benefits package. Support for relocation expenses will be provided to Faculty candidates, and associated research laboratory members, moving to the Albuquerque area.
