Our programming empowers and assists families in creating and implementing frameworks that lead to improved parent-child relationships, positive parenting practices, optimal child development, family safety, and increased knowledge of and access to community programs and services. Our Mission is to help at-risk children grow and develop to their full potential in nurturing families within a supportive community.

Position Summary

Under direct supervision of the CBPIR Program Manager, FSW provides services to families in the Bernalillo, Sandoval and/or Valencia county areas in order to facilitate both the maintenance of the biological family as a safe, stable unit for the child and the reunification of children and/or youth in custody of CYFD with their parents in an expedited timeframe. The FSW will carry a caseload of between 6-15 cases under a tiered case management model. The FSW will provide services to families 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week. The FSW will provide an environmental assessment and intervention to improve individual and family interactions, skill building, increasing parent’s protective capacities, self and family management, case management and coordination and linkages with other services and support in order to increase parental knowledge and reduce the risk of child abuse/neglect. The FSW will provide transportation to clients as needed. The FSW will provide extensive documentation and record keeping through progress notes within an electronic records system with paper form back up files.

Qualifications/Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from an accredited college/university and four (4) years of any combination of experience including working with communities on health or social service-related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care and licensure by the New Mexico Board of Social Work Examiners at the LBSW, LMSW, or LISW level or licensure in another state and qualified to sit for the next testing session. OR, A Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Family Services or a related degree approved by CYFD from an accredited college/university and six (6) years of any combination of experience including working with communities on health or social service-related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care with CYFD approval.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms: and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must regularly utilize a computer for documentation, research and communication. While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently works in an office environment with a noise level that ranges from moderate to loud and will frequently work off-site. Employee will frequently work in outside weather conditions while traveling and/or conducting home visits. Employee will also occasionally work in potentially dangerous environments including detention facilities, jails, and prisons while fulfilling the requirements of the position. Work hours are considered flexible and employees are expected to periodically work evenings and weekends should agency and/or client needs require.

The employee is required to drive an automobile in order to provide needed crisis intervention, assist clients with needed service acquisition, and perform required responsibilities in the client’s home during non-traditional hours when public or agency transportation is not available.
