New Alternatives, Inc. is a private nonprofit agency that provides a wide range of services to children, youth and families in San Diego County. The populations served are some of San Diego's most vulnerable children who suffer from a variety of emotional and behavioral challenges due to family histories of child abuse, substance abuse, family violence and mental illness.


New Alternatives, Inc. Family Visitation Center Program is hiring Visitation for a variety of positions for South, East, North Central and Central San Diego. This is a great position with room for advancement as many of our staff become Social Workers, School Counselors, therapists and continue to further their degrees. Paid internship opportunities available!!

JOB DESCRIPTION for Case Managers/Monitors ($34,320-$36,400/year):

  • Transport foster children to supervised visitations between foster children and their parents at a New Alternatives, Family Visitation Center, community parks or County Office
  • Provide supervised monitored visitation services designed to increase and reinforce the parent child relationship
  • Understand appropriate child and youth developmental milestones
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills, position requires documentation
  • Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply!


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in: Social Work, Child Development, Psychology, or related field preferred but not required. Experience working with children.
  • A reliable car (4 door preferred)
  • A valid driver's license, car insurance and no DUI's
  • **Some positions available for non degreed employees who have experience


JOB DESCRIPTION for Parenting Coaches ($35,360-$38,480/year):

  • Provide Parent Coaching services (training provided through Marty Beyer PhD) for families who are referred through Child Welfare Services
  • Maintain case load as assigned and work with families 1:1 until reunification
  • Transport foster children to supervised visitations between foster children and their parents at a New Alternatives, Family Visitation Center, community parks or County Office
  • Provide parent coaching services designed to increase and reinforce the parent child relationship
  • Understand appropriate child and youth developmental milestones
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills, position requires documentation
  • Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply!

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to gain basic parent skills and other evidenced based training through NAI
  • Ability to gain knowledge of Trauma Informed Care through agency training
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred (not required)


Schedule/benefits:

A flexible schedule/and be able to work some evenings up to 8pm and one 8 hour weekend day (part-time and full time available)


All employees are required to have a background check and DMV Driving record printout.
