Facilitate new and existing credit underwriting, due diligence and closing process. Work with FHA Lending Manager(s) to facilitate the FHA loan application process through interactions with prospective or existing clients. Act as a liaison between the bank and borrower to ensure a proficient loan transaction by reviewing and monitoring loan packages, conducting property level analysis and underwriting, under the direction of the Deputy Chief and Chief Underwriters, following the approval process of a FHA loan. Requests and reviews borrower information to ensure necessary requirements are met prior to submitting loan application to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as well as all of the loan documentation prior to loan closing. Review final documents to ensure compliance with loan approval. Coordinate the closing of the loan with internal and external customers. Initiates and oversees funding process, from preparing the electronic loan file to proper booking of the loan. Addresses internal and external customer questions/requests regarding accounts in a timely manner.

  • Schedule and attend internal and external kick off calls.
  • Prepare Borrower contact list and circulate to team.
  • Distribute a due diligence checklist to Borrower that includes HUD Forms and certifications.
  • Maintain outstanding due diligence list and provide weekly to Originator, Underwriter and Borrower.
  • Conduct underwriting analysis of property and evaluate and assess third party reports including; market studies, appraisals, environmental reports and Project Capital Needs Assessments (PCNA).
  • Prepare and issue due diligence package to borrower.
  • Review final loan documents to ensure all forms are complete and prepare loan package to submit to HUD.
  • Coordinate the engagement, receipt and review of all third party reports (appraisals, market studies, property condition reports and environmental reports).
  • Coordinate with vendors to schedule site inspection dates and reports, holding vendors accountable to agreed-upon dates.
  • Maintain detailed third party, fees and expense budgets for each loan.
  • Order borrower/sponsor credit reports, OFAC, SAM , LDP, and related documents.
  • Work with the Closer to confirm that all invoices from third party vendors have been accounted for on closing statements.
  • Prepare loan file for funding, generate input sheets to send to funding and loan servicing.
  • Process a pipeline of complex multifamily and affordable housing transactions.
  • Develops and maintain strong relationships with FHA/HUD offices and counterparts.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Required Skills
  • Working knowledge of FHA Multifamily MAPGUIDE.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office. Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • General credit/underwriting knowledge.
  • The ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • May require some travel.

Required Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in an area of concentration in Finance or Business or five (5) years equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Multifamily experience with the FHA 221 (d) 4 and FHA 223(f) loan programs and familiarity with construction lending practices.
  • Knowledge of the FHA processing, policies and underwriting standards and requirements.
  • Credit and sales training preferred.
  • Experience with credit analysis and multifamily rental underwriting is preferred.
  • Demonstrated significant FHA MAP multifamily processing experience is required with MAP Approval.
  • Ability to effectively manage a pipeline of complex multifamily transactions.
  • Must be able to prioritize at a high level.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to succinctly and accurately present information and respond to questions from borrowers, employees, and executive level management.
  • Strong writing ability.
  • Strong analytical abilities to grasp complex transactional issues and assess risk.
