DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The File Clerk performs a variety of filing and clerical tasks for department staff,

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
0 Maintain business files and file materials according to specified filing system.
0 Assist office staff in copying, filing, and messenger work.
0 Assist office staff in guarding the privacy of employees, members, and/or clients by keeping all information
confidential.May type correspondence, memoranda, and reports from rough draft.Retrieve documents from folders.Answer telephone and route incoming calls to appropriate office personnel.Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:Knowledge of modern office practices and office equipmentKnowledge of English language, grammar, spelling and punctuation.Typing skills adequate to meet the demands of assigned duties.Ability to enter data into computer.Ability to maintain orderly and accessible files.Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Officials,
and the general public.
0 Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-Free workplace.REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED with some office occupational course or office experience.ADDITIONAL RE! QUIREMENTS:

- Required to pass a background check. Background checks are required for positions that involve regular
contact with or control over Community Children in accordance with The Indian Child Protection and
Family Violence Prevention Act, 25 U.S.C. Sections 3201 through 3210 and C.F.R. Part 63 and positions
that have regular contact with the Elderly.
0 Required mandatory reporter pursuant to Title 7, Chapter 2 (7.205), B.
0 Required to attend Title 7 Mandatory Reporting training on a yearly basis.
0 Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission
of the application.Non-Supervisory, Hourly Position
