Job Description

Facilities Management seeks a Filter Servicer. This entry-level position will inspect, maintain or replace air filters on heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.

 

Salary Range

This position is located at the University Services Building, 1551 S. Rural Road, Tempe, AZ (on Rural Road south of Apache Blvd). 

 

Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license (minimum of Class D) upon employment and maintain throughout employment. Post-offer of employment, selected candidate must possess an acceptable driving record which is 5 or fewer points in the most recent 39 month period from date of hire.

 

Must pass pre-employment physical examination post offer of employment to include audiogram, asbestos worker clearance, respiratory clearance questionnaire and respiratory fit test.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Three months of general maintenance or related experience; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Must pass pre-employment physical examination post offer of employment to include asbestos worker clearance, respiratory clearance questionnaire and respiratory fit test. May participate in programs which involve adherence to program regulations, including physical exam, annual testing, x-rays, medication, vaccinations at ASU expense, and completion of a Health Surveillance Questionnaire. Employee must possess a valid US Driver’s license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in:
· Maintenance of air filters
· Accurately maintaining and updating maintenance records
· Rotating machine (air movers, motors, exhaust fans and compressed air systems)
· Performing preventative maintenance routines
· Customer service

Demonstrated knowledge of:
· Types and use of air filters
· Asbestos and abatement procedures

Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

Essential Duties
Inspect air filters on HVAC equipment to determine if maintenance is required. Clean, oil, or replace air filters. Clean air plenums. Recommend upgrade of air filters for efficiency. Schedule maintenance on air filters. Read gauges and instruments and adjust mechanisms. Maintain records of maintenance on air filters. Ability to communicate to perform the essential functions of the job.

DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Tuesday - Friday 6:30AM-5:00PM

Working Environment
Utilize hand and/or power tools (e.g. drills, generators, saws, lifts, vacuum equipment). Climb stairs, ladders, ladder wells, and stairs. Work off ladders to include working off lift platforms and boom trucks at heights above six feet. Activities performed in a variety of interior and exterior settings involving restricted movement, low lighting, dirty environmental conditions, air contamination, extreme temperatures, intense noise and exposure to hazardous materials.

May be exposed to hazardous and dangerous materials, tools, and equipment which will require safety precautions and/or specific process to be followed, and may include the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) (e.g. safety glasses, hearing protection, negative pressure and positive pressure respirator). Use of PPE may require medical clearance prior to use. Regular use of air compressor, shop or central vacuum, or water source. Required to stand for varying lengths of time and travel moderate distances to perform work.
Ability to push and/or pull approximately 200-300 pound weight loaded on wheeled maintenance carts to transport tools and equipment throughout campus to job site. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 75 pounds. Drive University vehicles and/or carts.
