Job Description

Paul Mitchell the School Phoenix is looking for a Financial Aid Leader to join our team! We are an energetic, fast-paced environment proudly providing a state-of-the-art cosmetology program that educates students to become industry leaders.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Counsel students and parents regarding financial aid eligibility and ensure all students are provided with accurate information in regards to financial aid, resources, and obligations.

Perform complex Financial Aid processes, such as creating estimated award letters, performing verifications, and dealing with overlapping loan periods, transfer credits, repackaging aid for a new award year, and determining student funding eligibility.

Counsel incoming, continuing, and reentry students on the availability of Title IV funds and resources to cover their tuition and living costs.

Meet with prospective and continuing students to apply for and secure financial aid to cover educational expenses.

Assist incoming students with completion of the FAFSA, and completion of Direct Loan Entrance Counseling.

Participate in new student orientation and graduating student exit meetings.

Effectively communicate with Admissions to ensure future registrations have obtained appropriate documentation for packaging.

Maintain Financial Aid files and incoming documents when received.

Assist with various administrative tasks, such as data entry, recording, filing, and tracking of financial aid applications, documents and forms.

Work with Financial Aid Advisers, students, parents and Admissions Representatives to help resolve financial aid issues.

Assist students in all aspects of the financial aid process by delivering accurate, up-to-date information in a polite and professional demeanor, including FA overviews, appointments and walk in inquiries from new and continuing students.

Follow up to collect outstanding documentation and arrange for follow up or final FA appointments with prospective and continuing students.

Assist students in all aspects of the financial aid process by delivering accurate, up-to-date information in a calm, polite, professional demeanor.

Complete verification on all applications selected by the Department of Education.



Prior Financial Aid experience, including Title IV federal funding is required.

Demonstrated understanding of NACCAS and DOE regulations.

Proficient computer skills including Word, and Excel.

Familiarity with Fame/Freedom reporting and time clock systems such as Handlink.

Database management and record-keeping skills.

Ability to work individually and within a group.

Excellent written and communication skills.

Established customer service background.

Organizational and counseling skills.

Candidates must be able to successfully pass a criminal history check and drug test.
