Job Description

Grand Canyon Education (GCE) is an educational service company that provides an array of support services in the post-secondary education sector. Formerly part of Grand Canyon University (GCU), GCE still supports and works closely with GCU. GCE designs and develops educational programs for GCU and other traditional campus institutions, as well as online partner institutions at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.

Grand Canyon Educations Office of Financial Aid is currently seeking Financial Aid Specialists. The Financial Aid Specialist evaluates and determines new or continuing students eligibility according to federal regulations and guidelines, which includes fee waivers, scholarships, loans, grants and work-study employment.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and verifies information on student documentation for completeness, accuracy and eligibility for financial aid.
  • Audits required financial aid documents to confirm compliance with local, state and federal regulations and policies.
  • Accurately inputs data, information, changes, corrections and new awards into database(s).
  • Processes disbursements for financial aid funds accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintains current knowledge of state grants and scholarships, federal programs, veterans programs, scholarships and federal, state and University regulations related to financial aid.
  • Maintains confidentiality of students and/or parents/guardians personal, private and financial information.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment meeting quality and quantity requirements within timelines.
  • Partial work from home opportunities available within 6-12 months after training.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution is preferred.
  • One year related work experience.
  • Work experience with CampusVue or other financial aid software systems/database(s) is preferred.
  • May consider an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant work experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Accurate, thorough and very detail oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment meeting quality and quantity requirements within timelines.
  • Must be willing to work over time when needed.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background investigations.
  • Cannot be delinquent or in default on a federal student loan as verified in your credit report. If in a rehabilitation program, your credit report must reflect that you are current, not delinquent, on your payments.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the Universitys Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
