Position informs and counsels patients with regard to their financial liability for healthcare services. Position screens and refers patients to the appropriate agency to apply for state health insurance, Medicaid or CHP+. Position screens patients for Gunnison Valley Hospital Financial Assistance Program. Position establishes medical financing arrangements for patients with large financial obligations. Position is responsible for the preparation of billing self-pay claims for patients of GVH. Ensures all patient information is correct and contacts patient to verify their self-pay status. Follows through monitoring all accounts until paid in full or outsourced to another agency. Responsible for keeping the Revenue Cycle Director and CFO informed of all matters with regard to self-pay claims. This position is responsible for processing Gunnison Valley Hospital Financial Assistance Program applications and Colorado Indigent Care Program (CICP) applications. Is responsible for other duties as assigned by the Revenue Cycle Director and/or CFO.

Compensation: $15.46/hr - $17.78/hr, depending on experience.

Benefits Eligibility

Medical, dental, vision, health care FSA, and dependent care FSA: All active employees working 40 or more hours per pay period are eligible for benefits on the first of the month following 30 days of active service.

Life and AD&D insurance: All active employees working 40 or more hours per pay period are eligible for benefits on the first of the month following or coinciding with 30 days of active service.

Short-term and long-term disability: All active employees working 60 or more hours per pay period are eligible for benefits on the first of the month following or coinciding with 30 days of active service.

Education: Experience or training in healthcare office setting and/or equivalent education or job related activities is preferred. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Bachelors degree is preferred. Spanish speaking is desirable.

Experience: Knowledge of insurance claims and billing is preferred. Ability to audit and review claim information for accuracy. Requires ability to work cooperatively with other employees, other departments and the public. Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines is required. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and concentrate in a busy environment is required. Ability to use common computer system and business software is necessary. Bilingual English and Spanish.
