JOB SUMMARY
Perform work of moderate difficulty in managing judicial collections to ensure the prompt, efficient, and uniform enforcement of court orders and collection of monies owed to the court, and obtain information for enforcement proceedings.

Example of Duties

Work in this classification requires an individual to be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Determine financial plan for payment of court-imposed fines/assessments.
  • Establish and monitor payment arrangements with debtors.
  • Identify, locate, and contact individuals and businesses to collect accounts receivable.
  • Monitor and oversee delinquent cases for possible legal action.
  • Establish and update debtor files with case and payment activity.
  • Interface with public, other office, and department personnel.
  • Monitor delinquency statistics to ensure cost effectiveness of program.
  • Prepare and submit form to institute legal action.
  • Train staff on collections procedures and department practices.
  • Audit payment records for payments accepted by department staff.
  • Review cases on an annual basis for eligibility, approve interceptions and/or authorize intercept releases, and process payments for distribution upon receipt.
  • Trace current locations of debtors.
  • Work with probation officers to ensure accuracy of information provided by families and payment records.
  • Enter data and compile and prepare reports.
  • Apply payments received from the Department of Revenue to the respective cases.
  • Certify funds sent to the Court from the Department of Revenue.
  • Enter all default cases into the Tax Intercept Program.
  • Mail delinquent notices.
  • Prepare and track all payment plans for the Juvenile Court.
  • Provide back-up support for tracking all payments made in Juvenile Court cases.
  • Track all payments made under the Tax Intercept Program and ensure payments are applied to proper accounts.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of revenue collection enforcement or closely related experience, preferably in a court-related or law enforcement environment.
  • Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.

  • Ability to obtain information through interviews.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. The work also requires the ability to finger, handle, reach, perform repetitive motion, hear, speak, and demonstrate mental and visual acuity.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands.
