DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Fire Support Services Technician provides support functions to the Fire Operations Division as part of
Support Services and is responsible for the departments inventory control process and procedures of:
Firefighting equipment, protective clothing materials and station supplies. The Support Services Technicians
performs maintenance and testing of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), associated breathing air
compressor systems, and storage cylinders; repairs small engines such as chain saws, extrication power plants;
maintain required inventory and maintenance records. Also responsible for Personal Protective Clothing and
uniform ordering, inspection and service in compliance with NFPA standards, Station operational supplies and
general department warehouse duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
0 Maintain an on-going preventative maintenance program for the Communitys SCBA units, which includes
semi-annual testing on a computerized test machine, making the necessary repairs, maintaining required
records and reports, etc.
0 Maintain high pressure breathing air compressors.
0 Perform and keep records on annual quantitative face-piece fit tests for all Community personnel who use
SCBA and/or respirators.
0 Teach N EPA and OSHA required classes on SCBA care, maintenance and proper use are tested as required.
Maintain records on cylinder hydrostatic testing and ensures that cylinders in use are tested as required.
0 Maintain, inspect and keep records on the departments Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE); service, repairand inventory.Maintain the departments uniform purchasing, and contract administration.Maintain the department warehouse and inventory control within the RMS.Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with Community policies and procedures.Work in a safe manner and reports unsafe activity and conditions.Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:Knowledge of the technical functions, repair and maintenance of SCBAs and other fire service cylinders and
equipment.Knowledge of regulatory agency requirements that regulate SCBA use and maintenance.Knowledge of proper procedures for safe SCBA operation and maintenance.Knowledge of the operating, testing, maintenance, and repair requirements of firefighting equipment and
apparatus.Knowledge of personal computers and software related to equipment maintenance.Ability to repair and maintain SCBA and other fire service cylinders and equipment.Ability to maintain exact records regarding SCBA, breathing air compressor, and compressed gas cylinders.
Ability to order and stock equipment parts.Ability to train and provide training programs to groups of fire personnel of the effective care and operation
of SCBA and other related fire equipment.Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of
time-sensitive deadlines.Knowledge of Firefighter Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE); inspections, services and standards.
Ability to demonstrate integrity, ingenuity and inventiveness in performance of assigned tasks.Ability to operate a computer using program applications appropriate to assigned duties.Ability to manage and control department inventory.Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Officials
and the general public.Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free workplace.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
High School diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years experience in maintenance and repair of SCBA
equipment, breathing air compressors and other firefighting support equipment.ADDITIONAL RES QUIREMENT:Obtain certification in maintenance and repair of SCBA equipment and small engines within six (6) months
from date of hire.Required to pass a background check.Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission
