Definition
Definition: Under direct supervision by the Transportation Director, responsible for managing, tracking, inventory of tribal vehicles. Ensures all assets (fixtures, vehicle equipment, tools, etc.) are properly inventoried and field personnel are complying with asset tracking and procedure requirements. Responsible for interfacing with departments in multiple functional areas from facilitating approvals & justification, purchasing, and conducting needs assessment for tribal vehicle request with the Department of Transportation. This job class is treated as FLSA Non- Exempt.

Examples of Tasks
Compile data, prepare reports and perform research involved in lifecycle cost analysis, prepares vehicle replacement schedule and equipment replacement; Create, maintain, and continuously improve procedures to manage vehicle inventory and minimize excess inventory; Recommend cost effective and operational strategies related to new vehicle/ equipment purchases; Serves as the subject matter expert for inventory management/ control for all vehicle request and purchases; Prepares and recommends contracts with appropriate vendors; provides input on bid specifications and reviews all bids, purchases; Responsible for performing research in areas of cost management, vehicle replacement schedules, equipment and asset management, warranty administration and action plan tracking; Collaborates with internal departments to solve questions on asset management related processes and procedures; Meets regularly with SRPMIC departments to discuss their fleets to include needs, usage, concerns; Works cooperatively with SRPMIC Warehouse and other departments to conduct annual vehicle inventory assessments and audits; Provides procurement related functional support (i.e. sourcing new vendors, PO issuance, supplier audits, etc.); Measure costs associated with existing and proposed equipment, functions, maintenance methods, and procedures; Participate in the department's vehicle auctions to include preparing and facilitating the transfer of ownership documents; Develops, writes, updates, and verifies new or existing vehicle purchasing contracts and bid specifications for purchases, request for quotes, and request for proposals; Designs and analyzes system processes, procedures, forms and work measurements to effect methods of improvement, work simplification efficiency, improvement of manual process or for adaption to computer processing; Maintains all vehicle ownership records to include; title, registration, procurement documents and emissions information; Performs other job-related duties as assigned to maintain and enhance department operation.

- Knowledge of computer systems and applications
- Knowledge of inventory control principles and practices.
- Knowledge of basic computerized accounting principles and practices; research methods, and reporting methods.
- Knowledge of specification analysis, and equipment specification and bidding procedures and data collection and reporting systems applications
- Ability to gather, interpret and compile data for reports and required record-keeping.
- Ability to input information into Asset Management system and extract reports needed.
- Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work within established department budget to monitor expenditure.
- Ability to process new vehicles and equipment
- Ability to conduct cost studies and analysis
- Ability to develop and present clear and concise reports
- Ability to prepare detailed, written bidding specifications for the purchase of new replacement vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Ability to lift, stand, bend, stoop and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds in order to be able to stock and maintain part inventory of the shelves.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with vendors and other staff.
- Skill in operating a personal computer and related software.
- Skill in analyzing operations, discern problems and provide feasible solutions, and provide work leadership.
Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience: Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Automotive Engineering, Business Administration, or related field required; And (3) years' experience working in a Fleet or transportation related field. And (1) year experience with management systems, developing bid specifications and recommending award of contracts for the purchase of new equipment and vehicles.

Insurability: Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License.

Equivalency:Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position, will be considered.

Underfill Eligibility:An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill.
