We're hiring a Food Service Worker to join the team, preparing meals for clients on our Acute Care Campus, where we provide inpatient treatment for individuals experiencing mental health crises.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position offering a starting wage of $16-19/hour with a comprehensive benefits package.
The schedule is Sunday through Thursday from 9:30am to 6:00pm.
Job Purpose:
Provide kitchen operations support for client daily meals in a 16-bed acute treatment unit and 15-bed crisis stabilization unit, 24/7/365 for adults. Provide clean and available dishes, pots, pans, equipment, and sanitary environment in the kitchen and dining areas. Assist in transporting and serving client meals and snacks at designated times. Assist cooks with daily meal preparation work and stocking of supplies. Ensure food safety and cleanliness in accordance with regulations and guidelines.
Goals and Objectives:
Ensure meals are provided on time to all clients on a daily basis by providing clean dishes, pots, pans, equipment.
Ensure kitchen operations are timely, in accordance with scheduled serving times, and all areas are reset appropriately to include assisting with unloading and restocking supplies, and resetting of client dining areas.
Ensure all health, safety and environmental health standards are achieved and maintained
Assist cooks with daily food preparation to ensure that meals and snacks are served at scheduled times
Ensure that kitchen is cleaned to all applicable State and County health standards
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensuring the availability of clean dishes by washing dishes, pots, pans, and flatware, and resetting dining areas.
Preparing dining areas and kitchen for next shift by cleaning and restocking dining areas and cook stations.
Cleaning machines and appliances used in the kitchen, such as coffee makers, pots, and pans, mixers, etc.
Unloading and storing deliveries to ensure that stock is rotated in a first-in, first-out methodology for freshness and perishable
Assist serving client meals and snacks and assist cooks with meal preparation.
Supporting cooks and other staff by assisting with other tasks, as needed.
Reporting kitchen accidents or violation of food safety codes and procedure.
Key Technical Skills and Knowledge:
Education
Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience
Minimal work experience.
Strong problem solving and communication skills.
Exceptional time management skills.
Ability to stand or walk for 8-hour shifts and lift at least 30 pounds.
Must comply with all food safety procedures.
Must have all food handling certifications required by the city and state.
Must be comfortable working with individuals experiencing behavioral health issues.
