Job Description Summary

As a Forward Planning Director working for Taylor Morrison you will manage land development and regulatory agency activities to meet division financial objectives. Will be responsible to meet or exceed expectations for on-time model opening dates (compared to "proposed" opening dates). Will work collaboratively with all functional peers as a member of the Divisions Leadership Team and will be responsible to recruit, train, manage, motivate and support Land team personnel.

We trust that as a Forward Planning Director you will: (responsibilities)

  • Oversee all forward planning and land development activities for the division
  • Complete all due diligence activities for new acquisitions
  • Responsible for preparing all division investment committee applications for new acquisitions per company procedure
  • Ensure that development activities are successfully completed on schedule and within budget by competent vendors
  • Advise Vice President of Land and Division President of any potential problems or issues and offer suggestions for resolution
  • Establish network of colleagues and brokers able to bring acquisition/divestiture opportunities as needed
  • Keep abreast of local market land transactions
  • You are willing to perform other duties as assigned

About you:

  • Concise writing skills are required for presentations to land investment committee
  • Bachelors degree in Business or related field or meet the minimum requirement for number of years of direct experience
  • Five years experience in land entitlements/development (with a production builder preferred)
  • Established track record for managing multiple direct reports
  • Demonstrated success in the home building industry, preferred
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to anticipate possible obstacles and propose favorable solutions
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to implementation and execution
  • Public speaking/presentation skills necessary for entitlements processing

FLSA Status: Exempt

Will have responsibilities such as:

  • Interviewing, selecting, and training employees;
  • Setting rates of pay and hours of work;
  • Appraising productivity; handling employee grievances or complaints, or disciplining employees;
  • Determining work techniques;
  • Planning the work;
  • Apportioning work among employees;
  • Determining the types of equipment to be used in performing work, or materials needed;
  • Planning budgets for work;
  • Monitoring work for legal or regulatory compliance;
  • Providing for safety and security of the workplace

  • Report to Division/Corporate Office/Community daily and adhere to schedule
  • Ability to oversee direct reports daily and provide guidance as needed
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer and/or electronic device
  • Ability to have face to face conversations with customers, co-workers and higher level manager
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and move around work environment as needed
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Comply with company policies and procedure

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
