Our Foster Relationship Specialist Technicians manage a high-volume exam room where they will perform basic medical exams (TPR), administer vaccines, blood draws, FELV testing, dewormer and administer flea/tick medication for foster pets (dogs, cats, critters). Our Foster Relationship Specialist Technicians are compassionate with their communication, keep a cool composure under pressure and they thrive on teamwork. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Administer physical exams, vaccines, blood draws, TPR and obtain the current weight of foster pets (cats, dogs, critters) during foster appointments. Support Foster Heroes with questions and concerns regarding their foster pet. Collect information about the foster animal from the Foster Hero. Recognize foster emergencies and maintain strong communication with medical team. All diagnostic results, complications or instructions will be conveyed to the foster hero by the veterinarian on duty or relayed verbatim per their instructions. Gather supplies as needed at request of foster parent. Keep all clinic areas clean and orderly; restock supplies as needed. Complete and maintain all records. Clean and disinfect kennels after patients are released. Answer incoming emails and calls in a timely and courteous manner. Will be cross-trained as a Foster Relationship Specialist Case Manager to: Maintain relationships with assigned pool of AHS Foster Heroes using relationship management software. Work with Foster Heroes to understand their needs for a foster pet and help identify the right pet for their home and lifestyle. Schedule appointments for assigned pool of Foster Heroes. Manage check-ins during foster appointments and upon check-out, review home care and medication instructions with Foster Heroes. Collect and record detailed medical or behavioral information regarding foster candidates by assuring that the Chameleon Foster Portal is up to date. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma OR Basic animal handling experience preferred. Must possess excellent telephone and customer service skills, externally as well as internally and present a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. Ability to multitask. Must be able to maintain accurate records. Must be able to clear a background check and pass a drug screening. Language Skills: Able to speak, read and write English and complete paperwork accurately and legibly. Bilingual helpful. Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic mathematical skills. Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Windows Explorer; able to learn other software programs as necessary. Proficiency with or able to learn/use Chameleon software (for use with animals in a shelter environment). Familiarity with computer data entry is preferred Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: N/A Other Skills, Abilities and Qualifications: Regular attendance. Access to reliable transportation. Basic veterinary technician experience preferred. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
