    Definition:
    Works directly with Facilities Supervisor and school custodians to maintain safe and clean environment. Assist with custodial training, act as liaison between janitorial supply vendor and site on ordering supplies, ensures uniformity of practices, tending to various needs and accountability of custodial staff. This individual would also support schools with general maintenance needs in the afternoon and early evening periods

    Essential Functions:

    Tasks:
    Knowledgeable in the use of cleaning solutions
    Ability to teach the procedures of cleaning expected of a custodian: (classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, large spaces, and experience in setting up and breaking down events.)
    Provide oversight to ensure that custodians have the equipment, tools, and supplies necessary to do their jobs.
    Teach custodians how to order supplies, when to order supplies, how to do proper inventory and care for the materials and equipment in their work areas.
    Train on floor care: Equipment upkeep & use
    Train on carpet care: Equipment upkeep & use
    Training on basic tool-equipment use including, but not limited to: Augers, ladders, ceiling tiles, painting, sink, toilets, water turn off, proper lifting techniques, and teaching safety precautions.
    Train on how to use the Help Desk Ticket system, which includes the development, closing tickets.
    Teach employees how to report an injury and follow through with individuals who may have limitations upon returning to work. Would work closely with Risk Management.
    Explain procedures on attendance, use of the check-in and check-out procedures. Training new employees on Frontline.
    Provide oversight on custodian rovers and new custodians.
    Advises custodian teams on the division of duties within teams for their schools.
    Advise and report on custodial disputes.
    Must be proficient in tool use, care and upkeep of equipment
    Knowledge of how to open a building, and to secure a building at the end of their shift.
    Proficient in the basics of general maintenance.
    Direct rovers to schools with the greater need for support.
    Ability to work closely with Operations Team to support school needs
    Can troubleshoot general maintenance issues that occur after school hours.
    Knowledgeable and proficient in event/activity management, set up, breakdown and organizational planning.
    Assist building administrators with hiring and assisting to address worker deficiencies
    Ability to support schools when no custodians report to work.
    Performs other related duties as assigned


    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
    Knowledge of methods, materials, supplies and equipment used in custodial activities.
    Maintaining inventory of parts and supplies, reordering when necessary
    Knowledge of custodial training methods and procedures.
    Knowledge of safety procedures and occupational hazards.
    Knowledge of District policies and procedures.
    Ability to lead and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
    Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
    Ability to monitor and/or maintain quality control standards.
    Ability to complete routine paperwork.
    Ability to foster a cooperative work environment, possess strong relationship building skills, people skills, hold themself accountable, possess common sense, skills in estimating and time management.
    Knowledge of operating cleaning equipment.
    Knowledge of evaluating new products and equipment used in custodial activities.
    Communicates, comprehends, performs functions from written and oral instructions and from observing others, evaluates written materials.
    Understanding of custodial or lead custodial job responsibility
    Knowledge of security and alarm systems.
    Strong ethical standards.

    Ability to work collaboratively with janitorial supply vendor representative.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Work requires frequent walking, standing, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to moving equipment, extreme weather conditions, toxic fumes and chemicals and infectious diseases.

    Qualifications:
    High school Diploma or equivalent.
    Three (3) years experience as a manager in custodial or building maintenance
    Any combination of acceptable training and experience in related fields.
    Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
    Possession of a valid Arizona license is a requirement for this job.

    Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.

    Salary Grade: G Hourly Pay: $18.30 Hours per Day: 8 Days in Contract: 260 Start Date: 2023/2024 School Year
