Grand Canyon University! One of Arizonas leading institutions of higher learning. Located in the Valley of Sun in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, GCU is a regionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian University.

Grand Canyon University is seeking to fill a Graduate Assistant position to assist with various tasks within the Welcome Programs. Graduate Assistants are required to be accepted to and matriculate through a Masters level program at GCU. The Graduate Assistant position offers a full masters degree tuition waiver. The Lope Family Events Graduate Assistant plans, oversees, and executes Lope Family events and varying Welcome Programs initiatives.

This is a commitment through the duration of the Graduate Degree completion at GCU.

What you will do:

  • Plan and execute event logistics for large parent and family initiatives such as Family Weekend, Fuel for Finals, service days, and more.

  • Under the advisement of Events and Logistics Coordinator, coordinate events, initiatives, and programs to engage lope parents and families.

  • Provide support for other the operations and events within the Department of Welcome Programs, including New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, Spring Welcome Week, Lopes Out Week, and other programs as needed.

  • Lead planning and organizing event meetings to obtain information, activities, and details for specific events.

  • Use Microsoft Excel or other relevant platforms to track and maintain lists containing staffing and relevant event logistics.

  • Facilitate collaborative efforts with campus partners and vendors.

  • Maintain and expand knowledge of relevant systems, platforms, and resources to aid in managing and facilitating organizational details.

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the Universitys Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

What you will need:

  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines and the ability to work and produce results operating in a fast-paced environment while remaining flexible, proactive and resourceful.

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, cope with changing priorities and meet competing deadlines occurring simultaneously.

  • Self- motivated with the ability to work independently and proactively and to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to identify root causes of problems, develop alternative solutions and execute sound decision to handle customer or operational issues.

  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. (If a student is newly admitted to the University, the admission GPA is considered for this requirement) Graduate assistants have restricted work hours (maximum of 29 hours per week)
