Job Description
Under the general supervision of the finance Director, the Grants and Contract Coordinator is responsible for the overall revenue, expenditures, and financial well-being of all tribal grants and contracts for completing and processing reports to various financial granting agencies, reconciling grants and contracts ledger accounts.
Education requirements
Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in business or accounting in related field or a combination of education and experience. Five (5) years of financial reporting and a sound understanding of federal accounting and administrative.
Experience requirements
Current generally accepted accounting principles for governmental units. Ability to develop and maintain a multi-fund total accounting system of records, reporting, audit trails and reconciliation. Use, analysis and implementation of automated accounting systems and personal computers. Laws and regulations relating to Tribal financial administration; budget preparation and control. Maintain effective working relationships among employees, Tribal members, and the public. Able to effectively communicate and maintain working relationship with co-workers, department heads and management. Assist the Finance Director in preparing comprehensive financial reports for various uses, including preparation of Tribal financial statements.
Responsibilities
Monitor financial status of all grant awards. Monitors budget expenditures for grant compliance and contract compliance; reporting requirements, forms, and due dates. Prepares/submit requests for grant reimbursements. Prepare required quarterly and annual progress financial reports and budget adjustments on grant awards for Program Directors, Council or Administration. Maintain accurate and complete grant files, and contract files, perform grant related special projects and audits. Assist Program Directors with grant applications and proposals as needed. Prepare and submit grant, contract applications or proposals in accordance with regulations, policies, and procedures through appropriate web-based and hardcopy processes. Tracks contracts and spending trends. Oversees the contract process ensuring that contracts are prepared accurately, timely and in accordance with budget parameters. Write grant reports, edit reports prepared by Program Directors, and submit reports to funding agencies as needed. Work with accounting staff as needed, to ensure that government contracts invoices are submitted properly. Assist auditors as needed. Performs all other job-related duties as assigned by Finance Director.
