    DEFINITION: Under close supervision, maintains the grounds and fields for Sunnyside Unified School District.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    TASKS:
    Maintains the grounds and fields; cuts, weeds, fertilizes and re-seeds grass and fields; applies paint lines on fields for games; trims trees; replaces, repairs and installs sprinklers; picks up trash around fields and grounds; installs or removes of fences.

    Responds to emergency calls including vandalism, beehives, broken valves, etc; assists other staff members with moving of furniture when needed; and performs related duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
    Knowledge of District policies and procedures.
    Knowledge of the operation of equipment for grounds and fields.
    Knowledge of irrigation methods and fertilization practices.
    Knowledge of safety precautions.
    Skill in preparing and maintaining grounds and fields.
    Skill in following oral and written instructions.
    Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed an outdoor environment. Work requires frequent driving, walking, standing, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to moving equipment, extreme weather conditions, toxic fumes, chemicals and infectious diseases.

    QUALIFICATIONS: One (1) year grounds keeping experience. Must pass district administered examination with a score of 70 or greater. Must possess an Arizona driver license. Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District.

    Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.

    Salary Grade: 8 Hourly Pay: $12.15 Hours per Day: 8 Days: 260
    Start Date: 2020/2021 School Year
