DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Groundskeeper performs unskilled and semi-skilled routine grounds keeping and general laboring tasks for
the care, maintenance, and repair of grounds, landscape, sidewalks, walkways, ramps, etc.; duties may include
watering, fertilizing, cultivating, and trimming shrubs, hedges, ?owers, and trees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
0 Set out and plant trees, shrubs, ?owers and bulbs throughout the Gila River Indian Community using shovels
and gardening equipment according to planting schedule.
0 Water, fertilize and cultivate lawns, ?owers, shrubs and trees; mow and edge lawns; lubricate, adjust and
make minor repairs on small-motorized equipment; install, repair and maintain underground sprinkler
systems.
0 Police GRIC grounds to keep them neat and free of litter and debris using collection bags while performing
job duties; report and clean any graffiti on departmental buildings or property.
0 Schedule required grounds maintenance to maintain neat and clean public areas using grounds keeping tools
and knowledge of plant maintenance and growth.
0 Apply insecticides and herbicides to trees, shrubs, ?owers and bulbs to maintain healthy plants using planting
cycles and seasonal pest problems as a guide.
0 Drive trucks (small and large) to transport lawn care equipment and supplies to and from the job site and to
dispose of trash and debris using proper and safe driving skills.
0 Maintain accurate records regarding the use of herbicide and pest control substances for tracking and reporting
procedures using manual documentation systems.
0 Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE. SKILL AND ABILITY:

- Knowledge of standard methods, practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in developing and
maintaining lawn and other landscaped areas.
0 Knowledge of the procedures and techniques used in planting and caring for shrubs, trees, ?owers, and other
greenery.

- Skill in the use of hand-held and power-driven equipment commonly used in maintaining lawns and
landscaping.

- Ability to understand and follow routine and written instructions.
0 Ability to work with minimal supervision.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Officials
and the public.
0 Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free workplace.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
High School diploma or GED and a minimum of six (6) months experience in grounds or turf maintenance.is
