GROUNDSKEEPER Location: Tucson Employee Status: Permanent Hours Per Week: 40 Work Calendar: 12-Month Pay Rate: $9.7636 - $15.00 Number of Positions Available: 2 CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION CLASS SUMMARY
Areas of responsibility include: ensuring that the landscaping and grounds (including track, sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots) are maintained in a pleasant, professional, and presentable condition.
Daily activities can include, but are not limited to the following: planting, transplanting, cultivating, watering, weeding, mulching, fertilizing, spraying, pruning, mowing, edging, lining of football field, etc. Responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of sprinkler and irrigation systems. Assists with concrete and carpentry work related to function. Maintains inventory of supplies, prepares requisitions for supervisor, records of work requested, materials used, and watering schedules. Makes recommendations to supervisor for the additions, deletions, or modifications of campus landscaping.
Position will be responsible for some or all of the listed duties and/or additional duties that occur from time to time.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two (2) years experience in ground maintenance, landscaping or related field. To include the following: experience with plants indigenous to the Southwest, operation, maintenance, and repair of tools and equipment utilized in grounds care duties, installation and repair of various types of sprinkler and irrigation systems.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:- Must be able to pass FBI and State background check
- Defensive Driver Training Program to be completed by all agency personnel that drive on State business
KNOWLEDGE OF:- Policies, procedures, and programs of the immediate work unit
- Principles and practices of administration and management
- Agency or program rules, regulations, and operating procedures
- Proper Plant and Lawn care
- Irrigation system including time clocks, sprinklers, PVC and Poly piping.
- Proper trimming, and plant care
- Tool/equipment maintenance
- Tree Trimming and care
DEMONSTRATED SKILL/ABILITY TO:- Work on various ground/landscaping types.
- Work in hot and cold conditions.
- Work with a team in order to plan and coordinate work activities
