Guidance Counselor

The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing a comprehensive competency-based counseling program focused on the learning, personal/social and career/vocational needs of all STOF's Ahfachkee school students. The individual provides individual and group counseling services regarding problems of scholastic, educational, and personal-social nature. Counsels students regarding educational issues, family problems, drug and alcohol prevention, study habits, and career planning. Interviews, advises and assists students in exploring career opportunities, evaluating academic abilities, and setting academic goals. This position is classified as a Admin-52; which requires a 52 week work period (approximately 12 months), paid across a 52 week (12 month) pay cycle. Bachelor's degree in Education or Social/Clinical Work is required. Master's degree is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of experience as academic or vocational counselor or working in a school setting environment is required. Certification as Licensed School Counselor is preferred or the ability to secure the license soon after employment is required. Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Software. Incumbent must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
