Position Summary: Triumph Business Capital is looking for a Head of Design to lead UX / UI for our portfolio of external and internal-facing product experiences. The Head of Design will be accountable for hiring, leading, and coaching a team of designers that will reimagine the future of the transportation finance customer experience to provide timely and efficient working capital to our clients. The Head of Design will be responsible for developing a customer-backed design strategy and ensuring the products and features our teams bring to market are grounded in customer empathy and world-class design principles. Additionally, the Head of Design will work closely with our senior Product, Technology, and Business leaders to transform our culture in ways that ensure customer-backed design thinking is embedded in everything we do.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Establish the design practice at Triumph Business Capital by hiring, managing, and developing a team of internal designers and creative leaders
  • Lead all aspects of design strategy and process, including defining UX strategy and ensuring its alignment with overall business objectives, strategy, and outcomes
  • Provide direction while managing day-to-day activities of UX/UI design team members, roadmaps, and timelines
  • Lead in-person or virtual brainstorming and other UX workshop sessions
  • Improve Triumph Business Capitals client experiences by ensuring high-quality design and execution at scale
  • Continuously collaborate with developers, product managers, researchers, and other designers to ensure the experiences our teams launch delight our clients and drive value for our business
  • Enable success by setting clear and measurable goals; defining comprehensive metrics across customer journeys and evangelizing insights to partners across the organization
  • Grow our design culture by creating a common language and set of practices across the organization, including the senior leadership team
  • Drive UI standards and governance to efficiently leverage previously created visual designs & patterns
  • Represent customer voice in product design through a strong usability focus
  • Translate user research findings, team input, and broad business goals into actionable product and feature ideas
  • Develop frameworks and guidelines for user research
  • Collaborate closely with other designers across the Triumph (TBK) enterprise to establish best practices and standards

Experience & Education:

  • 10+ years of UX and/or interaction design experience with demonstrable proficiency through the entire design process from early-stage ideation through production and release monitoring
  • 4+ years responsible for hiring and managing UX teams
  • Experience with agile implementation methodologies
  • Hands-on experience in user research, workflow-based interaction, and visual design for both mobile-responsive web and native mobile applications
  • Bachelors or Advanced Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Behavioral Science, Experience Design, or other relevant fields, or equivalent experience

Skills & Abilities Required:

The successful candidate will possess software development and business process experience, leadership and management expertise, analytical and critical thinking skills, and attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Experience supporting multi-function software development teams with at least 5-10 team members including designers and developers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to flex communication style with technical and non-technical users; communication can motivate teams, drive organizational alignment, and influence internal and external audiences
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills; self-motivated and reliable, drive to hit performance targets in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly accountable, efficient, and outcome-driven through rigorous execution; ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong collaborative skills with an ability to effectively communicate with both technical teams and non-technical business users/leaders
  • Strong and focused leader, team player, and consensus builder
  • Ability to sift through details quickly and determine whats important
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment; strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Hungry to learn and teach the product innovation craft, including the methodologies, mindset, and tools needed to deliver customer value in innovative and delightful ways
