Job Description

The purpose of this job is to lead, manage, develop, and promote Renewable Diesel Supply & Optimization for Pilot Energy; generate leads, qualify prospects, develop customer relationships, and conduct trades in an assigned geographic territory for a defined product(s).

Essential Functions

  1. Build strategies and lead the execution of strategic initiatives related to the supply and distribution of Renewable Diesel.
  2. Optimize and monetize opportunities for the company and customer in Renewable Diesel optimization, supply, and distribution.
  3. Lead and provide strategic direction to the Renewable Diesel Optimization team to ensure delivery on defined strategic initiatives.
  4. Set up and manage GreenAmerica and Tartan Oil commercial risk position related to Renewable Diesel and associated compliance attributes.
  5. Lead daily interaction with senior internal and external stakeholders including upstream/ downstream operations teams, midstream, legal, credit, contract administration and other key stakeholders.
  6. Manage and trade heating oil futures book and associated hedges, RINS, LCFS and any other associated compliance attribute related to Renewable Diesel
  7. Lead the development of renewable diesel business contracts, including evaluation and development of new opportunities.
  8. Follow all company-based risk and control parameters set forth in the Risk manual.
  9. Communicate with colleagues and industry contacts to gather information; modify optimization strategies and tactics accordingly.
  10. Remain current on the legal and economic issues affecting the Renewable Diesel industry.
  11. Select, coach, train and develop direct reports to include aligning goals, appraising job performance and conducting performance reviews
  12. Model behaviors that support the companys common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level.
  13. Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  14. Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in finance, economics, math, engineering, or relevant field required; advanced degree or MBA preferred
  • Minimum 7 years experience trading in directly relevant commodity markets required; 10 years experience preferred
  • 3 years of prior business management experience
  • Strong business relationships with network of industry professionals relevant to distillate monetization, commodities trading and procurement required
  • Minimum 5 years leadership experience required

Specialized Knowledge

  • Minimum 10 years experience with commodity market analysis and risk management
  • Thorough knowledge in optimization of commodity markets
  • Knowledge of midstream asset operations, refineries production and flows arriving in the US from other areas preferred
  • Experience working in a regulated environment preferred

Competencies

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills required; advanced skills preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to own and be responsible for P&L and risk management
  • Experience building and managing market strategies to support company strategic initiatives for growth in key markets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to negotiate and influence others

Travel

  • Travel required up to 40%

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • General office work requiring sitting or standing for long periods of time, including on airplanes and in cars
  • Able to work evenings and odd hours as needed to support the business
