Job Description

Position Summary
Electric/Hydraulic/Diesel Mechanic

Technicians, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain diesel and natural gas engines. This role is responsible for identifying, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and providing quality repairs of engine mechanical failures.
Essential Duties
Service Support
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and assist others in performing intermediate and advanced corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Uses basic knowledge of engine/generator mechanical and electrical operation to perform tasks or assist others.
  • Replaces batteries, belts, and hoses; changes and/or tops off oil and filters.
  • Properly and completely fills out all service reports, PM checklists and timecards within department guidelines; Ensures they are legible and accurate with sufficient detail for service accounting needs.
  • Works on a flexible work schedule and responds to emergency calls as needed.
  • Obtains pre-assigned work orders by schedule date, customer name, service level and locate / load parts, check for any special instructions; Travels to job site, performs scope of work, provides detailed computerized template report and timecard upon work assignment completion for daily accountability.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* Prepare for jobs in regards to equipment, transportation equipment, etc.
* Cut and fuse polyethylene pipe (butt, socket, sidewall fusion and electro-fusion)
* Inspect welds and pipes and all fittings before and after welds
* Provide technical support for customers
* Provide solutions and options for customers and contractors through suggestive selling of
products and services
* Work on and maintain machines and equipment in the field if necessary
* Maintain knowledge of electro-fusion process, welding machines (smallest to largest), data
logger, and all the HDPE fusion processes
* Responsible for maintaining assigned vehicle and trailer
* Maintain a safety-oriented attitude
* Assist in warehouse with shipping and receiving functions; operate forklift as needed
* Make general deliveries as needed
* Routine duties are performed with minimal supervision; standard practices or procedures allow me to proceed alone at routine work; occasional check of work while in progress; work is reviewed upon completion

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
* High school diploma or GED
Experience working on Mcelroy equipment preffered
* Minimum 2 years previous experience operating 1 ton trucks with up to 48ft gooseneck trailers
* Knowledge of polyethylene pipe and fusion equipment is a plus
* Prior experience operating commercial vehicles and a clean driving record

* Normal operating hours and days; Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
* 40+ hours/week required according to the needs of the department.
* Occasional short- and long-term travel
Pay $32 - $34/hr
