Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for operating/driving a variety of heavy equipment including, but not limited to, crawler tractors, front wheel loaders, excavators, wheel tractors with disk and harrow and gasoline or diesel powered equipment. The individual drives and operates equipment over and off the road in order to complete the assigned tasks. Performs routine vehicle maintenance including, but not limited to, conducting pre-operation check; routine preventive maintenance and performing minor field repair or adjustment on the equipment. This is skilled work performed in a safe and efficient manner. High School diploma or equivalent GED is preferred. A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the operation of heavy construction equipment such as front-end loaders, dozers, bobcats, back-hoes, tractors and other heavy equipment in a safe and proper manner is required. Possession of the certification from the Mining Safety Health Administration (MSHA) to operate Heavy Equipment; or the ability to obtain it within 30 days of employment is required. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License for operating heavy equipment is required. Prior survey experience and lay is required. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
