Job Title: High End Ceramist

Dept: Porcelain Department

Reports To: Porcelain Dept. Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Read and interpret doctors prescription and preferences, following exact instructions.
  • Reject received work from previous departments that is unfit to continue.
  • Ensure case is completed in time to ensure other departments meet the Red Date.
  • Applies porcelain powder over prosthesis frameworks or copings using brushes and spatulas.
  • Applies porcelain in layers to arrive at the precise shape and color of a tooth or teeth.
  • Load newly constructed teeth into porcelain furnaces in order to bake the porcelain onto the metal framework.
  • Adjust the shape and color of product with subsequent grinding and addition of porcelain to achieve a sealed finish.
  • Fix or add porcelain to contacts or occlusion as needed.
  • Stain and Glaze.
  • Follow the Code of Safe Work Practices.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CDT Preferred, but not required.

Language Skills:
Working ability to read handwritten English in order to read doctors prescriptions as well as ability to read and understand laboratory slips and laboratory terminology.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, including the metric system, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
