SUMMARY:
The position is responsible for Release of Information (ROI) and Birth Registry (BR). In ROI, the employee is responsible for providing superior customer service while reviewing and processing information requests from patients, physicians and other medical professionals, insurance companies and others. In BR, the employee is responsible for assisting mothers complete required documentation for Arizona Department of Vital Records.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Exhibits excellence in customer service through appropriate attitude and interaction with all patients, visitors and staff.Uses approved systems to maintain accountability of releases to meet the Meaningful Use requirements.Tracks outbound and inbound faxes using Rightfax.Establishes legitimacy of requests by verifying the requester has a right of access to the information.Assists new mothers to complete the Birth Worksheet, enters data into Electronic Birth Registration System (EBRS), provides name changes for new babies.Reviews and determines records involving potential liability; prepares certificates, notarizes affidavits, and other documents.Ensures completion of documents in accordance with TMC, county, state and federal regulations.Contacts physicians and patients to obtain information required to complete certificates and other documents.Maintains confidentiality of medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.Operates a personal computer, calculator, FAX machine, copy machine or related office machinery in performing assigned duties. Exhibits excellence in customer service through appropriate attitude and interaction with all patients, visitors and staff. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of related records management experience AND one (1) year customer service, preferably in an acute care setting.LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: None required; EBRS certified preferred. Must be EBRS certified within 6 months.
