The Shift Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the proper and uninterrupted servicing of hospital accounts through the effective management of available blood resources and personnel.

In this role, youll:

  • Assist in the development and training of Hospital Services staff, and ensure compliance with all regulations, procedures and customer service standards set forth for Hospital Services.
  • Ensure hospital orders/demand are met, process hospital orders, record on appropriate documents, post to order board, etc. Notify consignee of routing, waybill numbers and estimated time of delivery for all shipments made by common carrier.
  • Assign delivery vehicles and phones.
  • Ensure all quality control checks on refrigeration equipment as outlined by policy, attend departmental meetings, participate in cross training exercises as required/directed, and complete all tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintain proper arrangement of units acceptable and available for delivery, ensure maintenance and weekly rotation of available frozen product inventory (excludes frozen red blood cells); ensure orderly maintenance, within established parameters, of the freezer.
  • Ensure the timely completion of daily removals and transfer of expired components; ensure the timely and proper completion of the daily blood component audit and release.
  • Maintain hospital inventories within predetermined ranges; obtain release of shortdated inventory in a timely manner; and ensure proper and accurate maintenance of hospital computer-based files through appropriate supervision of the Inventory Control Monitors.
  • Enforce The Blood Center's policies on EEO, Affirmative Action and Safety/Health to include providing medically acceptable units for delivery by performing appropriate quality control functions to include visible inspections, etc.
  • All Duties as assigned.

We need someone who has:

  • Directly supervises up to 14+ employee
  • High School Diploma or GED (associate degree from an accredited college or university preferred)
  • two years of prior experience in a supervisory capacity with exposure to production control; or equivalent combination of education and experience

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to blood and/or blood components, as well as any other biohazard materials. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job duties involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood with a risk of exposure to Hepatitis and HIV.
