Performing biochemical, immunohistochemical and imaging experiments and analyses. Responsible for participating in
collaborative research projects as assigned. Using computer technology solutions and software/technical support as
necessary. Assisting with preparation of manuscripts for publication of results. Additional responsibilities may include
preparations of various buffers, solutions and gels for various assays as well as submitting/ordering laboratory supplies
and equipment; training of other staff members/students/volunteers.

Required Qualifications
Masters (MS) degree and at least 6 years of training and experience in protein and gene expression analyses, transcriptomics, genotyping, in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, confocal imaging, rodent handling and breeding animals, and lab management. Demonstrated record of effectiveness and productivity as a researcher contributing to the field of neuroscience and pharmacology.
Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a researcher. Should have a record of activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of research.

Major/Essential Functions
- Conducts original research either alone or in collaboration with associates to obtain the goal/mission of the Institute. Assists senior lab staff.
- Prepare and examine tissues for imaging analysis, protein and gene expression, immunostaining and genotyping as needed.
- Plans, schedules and coordinates projects/procedures in design, research, and investigations and assumes responsibility for acceptance or rejection of results achieved.
- Care and maintenance of samples and equipment. Maintains a clean work area and sterilizes laboratory equipment and instruments as needed. Maintains adequate stock of lab supplies and equipment as needed. Record keeping of all projects/samples and experiment results.
- Participation and presentation of research data at laboratory meetings, seminars, journal clubs, and possibly national meetings/seminars.
- Training students, staff and other personnel on laboratory equipment, protocols and procedures as
necessary. - Observes work and safety rules of the lab and TTUHSC. Supports the value base culture of TTUHSC.
